Taxes done and submitted! Yeah, I waited too long, but I knew it would not be much of a refund so I wasn't super motivated to get on it. Now that I use turbotax every year and I don't have income from 3 different jobs, etc, everything is so much smoother! Maybe 2 hours of actual work at my computer, with documentaries or creepypastas playing on Youtube on my other computer.
It's almost relaxing compared to work and 2 crazy kids.

I've been using TurboTax ever since I had to file taxes, and while I've been lucky enough to mostly have one source of income (well, until I got married anyway), I still appreciate how relatively easy it is to file through them.

Do you get to use it for free?
For awhile it was free while I was on active duty, at least if used through USAA. Now I still get a discount for being a vet, but I can't argue the cost of $125 combined for Fed and State taxes. Saves me a bunch of time. When I was being stubborn a few years ago I chose to do it all myself and print out the documents I needed, mail in, etc. I think I spent almost 2 working days on taxes, instead of a couple hours.
When I was still in the reserves (until 2015), I had also resumed teaching and was still working a few days from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Not to mention my Comic shop hours. I hated doing taxes back then.

Why are you spending $125 to send your taxes? I don't spend that much when I use turbo tax. (did my taxes a while ago and already got both refunds)

I believe I use the minimum version that I can. It is $75 for Federal and $50 for my state. Maybe since I waited so long I got a "discount" on inflated cost. Regardless, it was smooth, except for the cost basis of some stocks I sold last year. I was annoyed that it wasn't done by my investment portfolio advisors on my 1099, but I've done it before so I did it again. Just took about 15 minutes of time away from porn or HCRealms or whatever.
I thought I did. It seemed like easy money, and I was young and dumb. These days I don't even bother getting two copies of the same card unless it's from a pack or something.
Mountain, Swamp, Forest, Plains, Island? Pffft. I only need one of each.
I used to use the free H&R block to do my taxes. Never had any issues. Then my wife starting being an author and an actress and it became a nightmare. We now use a tax professional who knows how to find all of the little details that save us money.

Yeah, it's still free for me. It used to be only a discounted price after a certain rank, but by the time I got to that rank it was apparently changed. Not gonna complain about that!
