Well if you want my input you'll have to look to threads like this or the threads I created in Another Realm because if they can't run the Rock Wars without resorting to petty vindictiveness there's no point in participating. I just think it's too much for coincidence that it happened almost one right after another when the person making the pairings behaves like a petulant child when he posts and clearly has disdain for nearly everything I nominate. If it can't be run with integrity than I don't need to be involved.
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
Am I supposed to feel called out by CB, or am I reading into this wrong? Cuz as the guy who randomizes (and I will repeat, randomizes) the numbers and gives them to Grinner, combined with someone who has butted heads with him in the past, I can't help but feel like he's accusing me of something.

Ever since you've been involved with rock wars you've been very vocal about how horrible the songs you don't like are and how angry it makes you when people don't vote for the music you prefer. You seem to like to dish it out but don't like to take it. As somebody whose tastes have been a constant target of your ire, I can't help but think that something suspicious might be going on when you pit my picks against each other twice within a couple of weeks.
We only have your word that you're doing them randomly.

Maybe we should decide the subject of the next Rock War now, so I can get a head start on planning my revenge. I obviously have a lot of work to do.
Didn't we already say that Numbers was after Colors?

I would hate to lose you over what are literally random numbers.

They are completely randomized. Even which group of pairs end up in each set of four are randomly determined.

It's certainly something we can discuss implementing next Rock Wars.

Destructo literally has no idea what songs go to what number. He gives me a string of paired numbers. I've randomized the numbers assigned to each song so they aren't the same number they were last round. He couldn't fix the results if he wanted to.
The list of songs doesn't even have the nominators' names. You'd have to go back to the nominating thread to match them up.
You are not the first person to have their songs paired against each other multiple rounds in a Rock Wars. You likely will not be the last. That's the way random numbers work. Heck, I half think it happened to me back when I was the one doing the pairings for DTM.
I doubt there is anything shady going on with the pairings, but I'll point out something that is more obvious that turned me off: I can't think of any legit reason for the person running the pairings to vote last, immediately before closing the thread. It feels to me as if the final vote is more likely to be motivated by how other people are voting than by some independent assessment of the songs.
Why not vote first, when a voting thread is created? Why wait until the bitter end, making sure that one (or two, when tie-breakers are "forced") person's votes are always counted? Is it common that the voting threads will be locked and the person running the event hasn't voted?
I see more going into it than that and I think you should too seeing as reinforcements were called in to defeat your nom in one of the rock wars not all that long ago.
I do recall that incident when others were called in to vote for a Beatles song over my tune I'd nominated. It was wrong, but it was back when DTM ran things. As for the matches that have the same nominator, that can be avoided.

I recall years ago; I would be brutal about songs I didn't like, absolutely brutal. DTM posted a message to all of us about how people's feelings were being insulted because these were songs our GROUP nominated. I knew he was pointing the finger towards me. So, I decided to find things about all the songs nominated I could find interesting. I'd say 95% of the songs have qualities that I can bear.

I'll defend Grinner, a bit, here. He's been voting dead last since I can remember. It can be annoying, I'll admit that, but it's his schtick. The thing that bothers me more is that the person, DTM, who decided the winner has a knack for always going with songs he knows. Honestly I'd prefer Doc Fate's rationale from his thread about really giving both songs a chance. Let's face it, if it's Weird Al, Peter Gabriel, Billy Joel, Beatles, etc., that s the song that will always win. other non-familiar songs will never stand a chance.

Thanks for the reminder. I am now starting my song list and checking it twice. Just kidding, of course.

Nothing in that post was meant to be serious. I honestly hoped that I would get some good-natured ribbing for my "Woah is me" attitude. I apologize for not being clearer that it was just a poor attempt at good fun. I am perfectly happy and appreciative with the way things are run and how people vote. Some interpretation-
"That makes me blue, baby"- My last song was Baby Blue.
"We have too many people in these contests that actually know good music when they hear it. When did that happen?" - An indirect compliment regarding the musical knowledge of our friends here.
"so I can get a head start on planning my revenge" - Completely not serious.

Please, tell me more about how the autistic person generations younger than you doesn't behave in ways you deem "acceptable"
No, I don't agree with how harsh DB's comments can be, and I have told him so on multiple occasions, but he has never come after you as a person. You are making personal attacks on him and taking his musical tastes much too personally. It's okay to be upset about what someone says when you feel strongly about a song. But if you're going to insult who they are as a person, you maybe need to take a step away from the internet.

Well said. I enjoy and appreciate the contributions of DB and CB. I even force myself to appreciate the contributions of Velvet, Grinner, Slicktrickyrick, JohannaMason, etc. (OK THAT ENTIRE LAST SENTENCE IS JUST A JOKE AMONG FRIENDS).

I was unaware of the autism aspect and that goes a long way in explaining why he doesn't have a filter when he complains. So I will formally apologize to Destructo Boy and the entire Grinner clan. I clearly overeacted to an unfortunate coincidence.

I’ve removed my inappropriate comments. I apologize, this isn’t the place for me to tell anyone else what to say. Sorry.
I’ve never seen DB personally attack anyone here, only give sometimes very blunt opinions on songs. To me that indicates a certain amount of filtering.
I woke up this morning and read this post. I rarely get angry about anything, especially internet comments from people that I don’t actually know in person. My first reaction was anger, and I realized a knee jerk response might be unwise. Later I was sad that this was the response, then settled on being ticked off.
I am old, 71 years old, and have given, received, and seen many apologies. I am not Quaker but am heavily influenced by their tolerance, acceptance, critical thinking, and forgiveness. But that is a crappy apology.
I’ve never seen DB personally attack anyone here, only give sometimes very blunt opinions on songs. To me that indicates a certain amount of filtering. It’s not necessary for anyone to be “ explaining why he doesn't have a filter”, and a lack of knowledge of that on our part is irrelevant. We are responsible for our own actions. A fresh negative comment while “apologizing” seems a small bit insincere.
My rant here could have been much longer, much more……
If this post means I should leave Rock Wars, so be it. I will not try to have the last word on any response, argument, or excuse. This is MY last word on the matter..
Well since I seem to be torking people off even with my apologies, I'll just continue with my original plan and bow out of rock wars.
