I also feel like I out-grew Star Wars & G.I. Joe which were huge for me when I was younger. Heck, I probably should have out-grew super heroes and cartoons too but for whatever reason I still enjoy them. I spent my entire life with someone always telling me the things I liked were stupid. After a while it all just rolled off my back. So enjoy your wrestling. My "getting it" or not shouldn't keep you from enjoying it.
Agreed. Feel free to like it. I don't begrudge anyone for it. Like I said, I chose to distance myself, not drive others away.
This is why most Monday nights when this thread turns into wrestling central I tend to just stay away or not comment on it.
Speaking of Yankees, Suga I think you should worry about your team when they struggled with my pathetic Cubs team.
Wait - the Cubs play baseball? I just thought they were a clothing and memorabilia corporation that employed an assortment of men in their 20s and 30s to model their branded merchandise on a runway called "Wrigley Field."

Nah, sure doesn't. I only take issue when people (not sure if anyone did or didn't in this thread, and don't care to check) A) assume that fans of pro-wrestling are some lowbrow bunch of pigs or B) maintain that wrestling is "fake," despite how utterly stupid such a position is.
Though, in the case of B, when you explain that the mat is less like a trampoline and more like a sheet of plywood they come around.
Meh, whatever. Just a version of theatre at the end of the day.
Longest-Reigning Drunken HeroClix Champion - anyone got a liver?

Unfortunately this is true. You just forgot to note that they are extremely overpaid models.

What he said.

Agreed. Earlier Thrumble made a fairly good point of likening wrestling to our afinity for fake stories in comics. That arguement has merit to me.
Still, comics both entertain me now and give me a sense of nastalgia from my very young days. And they never claimed to be real. It was always a fantasy world.
For wrestling I stopped watching as it reminds me of being lied to in my very young days. I was one of those 80's kids who were repeatedly told that they were real by the owners & actors. I started back up in college as a bunch of friends watched it regularly and it was a bonding thing to do. Still, within a few months I dropped it as it was pointless and was so fake that I couldn't take it. Also, the main reason I dropped it was that even though everyone involved (owners, actors and fans) now agreed that it was fake, fans (friends included) regularly got in verbal fights about it. That made no sense whatsoever and I distanced myself from it as quickly as possible.
That is why I laugh when some ogres start rants about ficticious characters. I went to a play last weekend. Am I supposed to rant about how much of a d-bag Hamlet was and state that I hate him (not the play, him, like he was a real person)?
Back off, man. Hamlet is not a bag of any kind. Everyone else around him in his life, however, is another story. 'S'probably why I like the character so much.
By the way, I apologize to Haven for the multiple spelling errors in the above post.
I read the whole thing and commented on it and didn't notice a thing!

Edit: Eh, I caught a couple. None changed the meaning of the sentence or word and those are the ones that stick out to me, expecially when they make it funny.
