Not sure what a platform game is and never played anything on playstation so the 2 Spyro games mean nothing to me unfortunately. So I am guessing it's like Contra on the old Nintendo based on a prior comment? Sorry I tried Wikipedia and I couldn't figure it. It's not a fighting game like Mortal Kombat, right?

It's not like Contra aside from when your character dies, you need to swap out a new one. Check this out.

Are you free to run around wherever you want? Are there other players like in an MMO?

The levels are somewhat linear. It's not a sandbox by any means. No online multiplayer.

At a halfway house right now, moved here Tuesday. Still waiting on social security too, which I found out today is waiting medical review. Otherwise just really bored. Lots of free time now so need to find things to do. Just hard with the weather now to explore the area. Also holidays are hard not knowing people and being too poor to visit anyone I know. Hanging in though. Have therapy four times a week, three days it is for three hours.

That is correct. Seems that Skylanders are not forward compatible, just backward. Them's the breaks...

That I knew. My question is that if I put the Swap-Force disc into my Xbox and then plug in the portal I got with the original Skylander's Spyro's adventure game, would a new Swap-Force character not recognize the old portal?

That... is a good question.

I am not sure if the portals are backward compatible. My guess is "no", but I could be wrong.
