Is anyone in sales? I kinda got confused on an application and ended up at an interview for a sales position, I'm trying to figure out the questions I should ask to find out if this is indeed too good to be true like most "sales" positions are.
As far as I know they don't require you to buy the product you're required to sell, they seem to be a reputable company, BBB gives them A+ plus they're certified by a bunch of those 3rd party construction rating things (don't know if that really means anything or not), and they deal with weather damage on housing. I would have never applied if I knew it was a sales job, but atm without incentives what they're offering me is making me think a little bit before turning them down. They're even offering to rent me a truck on their dime. All I would need to do is buy a ladder it seems, perhaps I'm just programmed this way but my cynic senses are tingling.

Sales can be a lucrative job, or you could be scammed in the process. Is the company asking you to put up any money of your own? Is it a salaried position? Does it only pay commission? What kind of incentives are offered to salesmen? Do they have minimum quotas to meet? You must be very careful that you know exactly what you sign up for. A sales job could literally take over your personal life if you let it. Investigate the company to the fullest and make sure you're not being set up for a pyramid scheme. Just saying, is all...

Sound advice. Dare we ask what company? Some are indeed totally legitimate, but you need to be careful. A lot of places are nice, but you need to put in 50-70 hours a week to really be on the good side of things. And if it's Amway, you run. I call it Scamway and a lot of other people do too.
Yeah I know that, like I said there's no indication that I have to put money up front, and I wouldn't anyway. They have full benefits including 401k matching to 4 percent. They didn't say specifically it was salaried so my guess it's hourly, they mentioned a base pay, then incentives based off commission and quota was never specifically said either. They did say that they work a lot of hours 6 days a week and sometimes til 6 or 7 pm but I have 4 jobs already so it isn't as if I have a social life atm.
The name is American Dream Home improvment. I checked online bbb gives them A+ rating and they've resolved all their complaints, there's one other vague statement on ripoff report from 2 years ago. They're a weather damage company for siding and roofing, and the ladder would be to access the roof in order to give an estimate of damage.
I'm supposed to call back tomorrow and I can seek clarification on the salary and quotas, then go from there, any other suggestions about what to ask? I made my reticence known to my interviewers and they didn't respond with a "trust me you can trust us". They encouraged me to investigate on my own.
Another day, another anti-vaccine story (guy with measles in San Fran), another head-banging Facebook discussion with anti-vaxxer friends. I just... I just can't anymore.
A year and a half ago when the first death occurred I had a similar response. Since then I've lost 150 lbs, made it halfway through a degree, taken up Muay Thai and feel better about myself than I have ever felt, even in HS and college when I had the rest of my life ahead of me. Which isn't about the weight, I was a 3 sport athlete and played baseball collegiatly, I just never felt good or confident about myself.
Now, I'm 30 lbs away from my target, I am a legitimate ass kicking machine (well comparatively to my peer group but I do hang out with a bunch of nerds) and this reaction is even stronger than the first one. I think the suddenness is what is keying it for me. I'm not one prone to manic attitudes when it comes to my outlook, and this is essentially only an intensifying and affirming of my mantra that I've been living by for the last 18 months. I'm doing the things I've always known I should have done for years, but there is finally a breakthrough on the actual motivation front. Shame it was loss and rejection that sparked the desire to change, but you need to use what you have available. It wasn't like I had happiness and love to focus on as a fuel.
Maybe there is a crash coming, but it isn't as if I went straight from being despondent to this, I have my usual peaks and valleys and have to deal with a lot of emotional issues stemming from brain trauma and other things from my past, but this is really the first time in that I have been confronted with a difficult situation that I'm not losing hope, it's the opposite. Which is only making me more hopeful.
Very inspirational, man. Thanks for sharing.

Like many hot topics, there are very few people who ever change their stance so it's best to either view it as a practice in your debating skills or to just pass on the discussion entirely.

Make sure you've got good health insurance if you're going to be up and down a ladder and on roofs all day. Ask about worker's comp, but that's a nightmare anyway.
Anyone know whwere I can find a good clean image of just this symbol to use for another project? For legal reasons, I'd rather use this version of the symbol than the others I have found.

Actually, it's best to keep a list of who they are, so you can make sure that your kids and their kids never interact. You want to voluntarily and unnecessarily turn your children into a walking public health nightmare, go nuts. But you should then do the responsible thing and isolate them from the world for their own and everyone else's protection.
