I'm trying so hard to get excited for this set. The themes are identical to my tastes, but...
I have to agree. The same-old-character fatigue is real. But I will say this, tho. We can't really argue that the Elders should be way more powerful than regular characters... since well, I have yet to read a comic book in which so-called "powerful" characters actually defeat permanently the superheroes. Isn't Thanos so powerful he can punch Captain America's head off? He can. He doesn't. And that's true pretty much for all the powerful characters.
I mean, need I remind you that Champion debuted in a comic book in which he fights Ben Grimm, and Grimm doesn't die?
Im fine with some low cost/point efficient Elders. I can finally play them at lower than 800-1000 pt games. Can’t wait to see Possessor, Obliterator, and Contemplator

My fear now is that we're going to get remakes of the key Elders and miss out on first time clix of these classic characters.

It wasn't combat to the death, it was a boxing match.
He fought and defeated Colossus, I think Sasquatch, and some others before he merely beat the Thing up quite badly.
The Thing kept answering the bell, though. The Thing went the distance, which was more than the others could do.
I don't think that anyone is arguing for an unbeatable Champion. Yes, he can be beaten.
But it should take more than two punches from an 80 point Rafael to get it done.
