the last few minutes had been very hectic for the heroes of New York. 1st they were swarmed by little blue men from...mars? sewers? it amounted to the same thing...then when the bearded elder blue guy had caused Black Cat to loose her equilibrium and seeing him fire an electrical blast at Logan. Spidey had reacted quickly and swung over to where he was and prepared to do battle.
The little Blue guy had looked at him and said Smurf the car down! didnt you Aunt May smurf you well enough? why would you want to Smurf me? Im just smurfing my people and wont really smurf anyone else...
Pete dropped the car and scratched his head beneath his mask wondering "wha....."
then in a flash Logan had dropped down nearby and Yelled "pete get your head clear and help me with this guy" his wounds already beginning to heal as his claws has flashed snicker snack...and dropped the bearded one where he stood. The heavy book, which reeked of arcane influence, had fallen to the ground.
Cat looked over at a black streak which paused over the pond...a yellow lightning bolt on his chest. she pointed and spidey nodded. with a grin she leapfrogged over Logan and grabbed up the book; she reverse somersaulted back over his head...several nearby smurfs held up placards with various #'s from 8-10 on them. she was poetry in motion as she stopped in the middle of the street to get her bearings.
Spidey, his senses going crazy, pointed at the hovering Black Adam and told Logan to watch his back as he shot a web line out and car in tow, took up a central vantage point to draw the blue goonies to him
The Book...he thought...it was all about the book.

On to the story……
Heather noticed that after Logan's show everyone that could leave, did leave. Spiderman and Black Cat both bounced their way closer to her. Black cat seemed to be holding something............. it kinda looked like a book.
"It would be much easier if she just gave us the book"
As she tried to take control of Black Cat's mind, Heather felt a slight resistance before she succeded.
Black Cat"Hey freind what can I do for you?"
Heather smiled,"Actually I think I can help you. With that guy flying over here, don't you think that it would be safer on top of that building over there?" "You know, with that big guy comming over here it might be safer on top of the building over there. I'll see you later."
As Black Cat jumped on to the top of the building, she suddenly reaslised that the book she was holding clashed with her costume. She dropped it.........what did she need it for?
Venom looked over to see Black Cat drop the book.
"Free book........... don't mind if I do." with that toothy smile of his. "Oh please take it away, it doesn't work with my suit." still under Heathers infuence, she smiled as Venom grabbed the book and jumped onto a vent.
Black Cat shook her head, looked around".........hey! How did I get up here?"
Logan just realized that he was all alone in a sea of blue....."Time to go to work."

I have to say looks like it will just be a fight for second place now. I spent 15 minutes figuring out that there is no way anyone can stop Doom’s Medic from getting away with the book. I was going to put my post in earlier and attack Logan and base Moondragon with another Smurf (Blocking LOS with Black Cat as an unintended bonus). But I realized that Logan still had toughness and the Smurf attacks were pointless so I decided to wait and see if I could think of something better to do. He who hesitates is lost! :disappoin Good job!

If the book is really that valuable in this game then there is no way Team Good can win. Even the JLA who stand the chance of 30 or so civilian points. I think there are enough smurfs. Maybe there just are too many smurf hunters to share the smurfs with?
Will Venom be considered out of play if he takes the book off the board? This hasn't happened with the civilians but, the civilians arguably have legs and can walk off. Just curious.

If it makes you feel any better, yesterday being VERY slow, I spent way more that 15 minutes making sure Black Adam would have no shot at me.
As for Venom going out of play, that is one of the reasons that I didn't make him leave the board yet. Just wanted to make sure that I knew what happened to him if he left the map. I think that he's gone for the game but I should find out before I do it.

Yes to get the book away a character must carry it off the board, thus leaving the game permanently.
As to the point value of the book - I thought hard on it and my logic was posted before. (post 71 way back on page 5) Looking at it now with some experience with the scenario 50 was to much. 30 probably would have been about right. It proved much tougher to take Civilians off the board (and the Bank ones are too protected compared to the rest of them. Rather the rest of them should have been as protected as the ones in the bank, making it easier to rescue them.). Also I originally planned on Papa Smurf hitting every turn, making him much more deadly than when we changed the rules.
We did have our chances. I screwed up twice in keeping Doom's Medic from making off with the book. 1) Not blocking LOS from Moondragon to squares next to Papa Smurf for the Logan TK. 2) Not blocking LOS to Black Cat from Moondragon. (You would think I would have learned from the first time!) Team Good also had several chances to take off with the book. Choon Hui or Firstfederal could have had the Smurf in R33 grab the book and run. Choon Hui could have attempted a breakaway roll with Papa Smurf and attempted to retreat to Smurfette in the sewers for healing instead of attacking Spider-Man. Also if Clixhunter could have moved Black Cat out of LOS of Moondragon preventing the passing of the book.
When I did my original assessment of the point structure I thought that to win a Good Team needed to rescue 2 Civilians, Ko about 15 Smurfs (slightly better than the average of 12 Smurfs per team), or 3 Civilians and about 10 Smurfs. This equals 50 pts. so obviously they would also have to keep the Book out of the hands of Evil Teams. Otherwise an Evil Team with the book wins. Thus setting up the situation that every team needed to get the book to win. Although all Team Good teams could work together to keep the book out of Evil's hands without hindering each other's plans.
Doom's Medic took advantage of our mistakes and deserves the win.

ALC, first of all I am not criticizing your running of this game or the point structure you proposed. Actually, I found it interesting that you placed the value of the smurfs higher than those of the players figures. Smurfs were easier points and worth more too. It let people work together.
The only thing I don't like was stated somewhere earlier by First Federal when he said it was hard to have a move every other turn when you are competing against five other turns. Thanks to the beating that my medic keeps trying to avoid, Despero has really been a non factor except for the fear he initially generated. Controlling the smurfs was a good idea but I think you should have run the game and controlled them all. Maybe taking 4 moves every turn with 3 or 4 chances at Leadership to add some chance and variety. With one person worrying about them they could'vr been a more cohesive group and would still be around.
Lastly, I for one am not ready to end this game. Even if Venom walks off with the book, there are plenty of smurfs and plenty of heroes & villains for points. I vote we play it out some more and see what happens.
The Corporal was panicked by now. Everywhere he turned there were these little blue men. They were worse than the Nazis. They were everywhere. Then the one-eyed man was yelling at him again.
Slade grabbed the young medic by the collar and pushed him across the street, “I said, RUN!” And run he did. He ran across the street to safety.

Smurf Story
Hungry Smurf saw the red form stop in front of him. It was a man. “Where’s the smurf dude?”
Flash leaned down to pat him on the head. “Aww, isn’t that cute? You got a little bib on and a little tiny knife and fork too. Do you know a guy named Ray Palmer? Who makes your little hats and pants anyways?”
The red giant knew about Smurfette. They must’ve already taken her away. He would make him pay. Hungry dove at the Flash who would have found himself on the menu if not for a trick shot by Green Arrow.
Ollie saw the little blue man coming down with the knife toward Wally’s leg and loosed an arrow at Wally’s foot knocking it just inches away from the downward arcing blade. “Keep on your toes Wally!” he called out. He should’ve followed his own advice.
The little smurf he had driven into the ground with his fist picked up the shaft of one of his discarded arrows and swung it upward between his legs. Ollie gasped, “That’s a pain that only a man could feel.” Holding his groin left his chin open and Malicious Smurf earned his name with a follow swing into Green Arrow’s throat that sent him sprawling back across the rear of the abandoned car that he was using for cover.
Green Arrow’s eyes rolled back into his head and his knees locked together. He began to have a 70’s drug induced flashback. The only thing that really changed was the little blue men became little green men in bell bottoms. He gave Malicious Smurf a peace sign and said, “Cool it man! Make love not war!” Malicious Smurf just smiled.
Kid Smurf just wanted someone to play with. This little guy in the blue and red just wouldn’t stay still for his game of tag. “For the love of smurf! If you keep moving around I will never smurf you!”
‘That’s the general idea,’ Ray Palmer thought.
