Anyway, to all the 'Skittle Lantern' haters, the White Lanterns don't have the numbers of the other Corps. If there are 10 of them, then that means that's pretty much all of them done in one fell swoop. You don't have to worry about any more of them besides possibly(...and i say this because i haven't counted them) one or two that got left out and may never even see the light of day.
So at least there's that, huh?
I like Skittles. When I used the term, it wasn't meant to be disparaging on the other Corps. If 4 or 5 of those 10 White Lanterns were replaced by Lanterns of other colors that could represent the other decades well (I'd especially like more Sinestro Corps and Black Lanterns for the current decade), I'd be ecstatic. What worries me is, while we're getting John, Larfleeze, Atrocitus and Red Lantern Guy, that's only one Silver Age lantern and 3 more current decade lanterns. And that's 14 pieces in a set of 60. 10 White Lanterns doesn't give me much hope that a real selection of different Skittles is in there.
I'm still excited about the set. The figures we've seen so far look good, and there are still lots of open slots left to give me Ragdoll, Killer Moth, a proper Silver Age Catwoman, a proper Poison Ivy, and the rest of the Freedom Fighters...
CarlosMucha: that is like be running in a Olimpic race competition just one step to get the gold and then a Giant children place a mirror in your side and you discover what you are really a hamster over a whell and the gold is just a slice of chess. Avatar Summoning: Original GotG, Melter, Whiplash

I'd like a new Alan Scott Green Lantern, but I'm prepared to be dissappointed on that one. I'd like a Commander Steel, Steel AND Citizen Steel...but I'm definitely not getting all three even if I get one. I want them, but i'll live without them, ultimately.
If i have a 'hope', it's that Golden Age Superman is better than the Origin version, and that Doomsday is better than the Justice League version.
I learned a long time ago not to tie my excitement level in what figures are selected or not, because even though there are 'sure fire' characters for a theme, Wizkids will always miss somebody...and it's not even an 'at fault' thing. Just the way it is.
My 'disappointment' level shoots way up on dial design, though.

That's a good philosophy. I know that the Gizmo and Power Girl in BatB were MAJOR disappointments for me, and at least part of that was because I was hoping they'd be in the set. Those dials...ugh.

I felt and still feel for you Power Girl fans. That version kinda stings.

What grinds my gears is that this is the make up of the set so far based off of what we know:
Golden Age (1938 - 1964): 4
Silver Age (1964 - 1986): 2
Dark Age* (1986 - 1994): 2
Modern Age (1995 - 2008): 0
Last two years (2009 -2010): 5 (with another 10 very strongly rumored)
I'm sorry, but this isn't shaping up to be the celebration of DC's history I expected. Are you telling me that the most important things in DC's history only took place in the past two years? I've been reading DC for a very long time and I'm sorry, but DC story quality has been in a steady decline for many years. (Since about 2000 by my account)
I know it's early, but based off of what I've seen the other sets we know that three to four of these characters will be alter egos (effectively cutting out 9 to 12 character from the list) and there will most likely be at least two "two or three levels" character ala Checkmate/Amazons from the last set essentially taking 5 to 6 unique characters and having them fill 13 to 14 slots. Add that with the 10 White Lanterns and the 2 (with most likely more to come) Skittle Lanterns, we're already up to almost half the set list filled.
* By the way, the term "Bronze Age" that Overstreet and other press uses to describe this time period is idiotic. As they're obviously not named after "ages of man" technology levels - Bronze would designate that these comics are of poorer quality than their predecessors - why are comic ages named after Olympic medals? ("Uh, gold, silver... bronze?)
Calling them the "Dark Age" makes more sense because the subject matter and style was very dark. It's more fitting.
I am just hoping we get an Outsider or two(the original team, of course) because after this set, I don't see a better time to remake or add in an unmade member of the team.

This would be the PERFECT set to fill team holes:
Negative Man
Looker
Conner Hawke Green Arrow
Ragdoll
Nightmaster
Black Condor
Original Ray
Plastique
Rick Flagg
Bolt
Jemm Son of Saturn
Classic costume Aquaman
Ocean Master
Tattooed Man
Libra
Golden Age Atom
Golden Age Mr. Terrific
Human-sized Spectre
Star Spangled Kid
Stripsey
We can only hope we get some of these classic characters.
As many have noted, we've seen little of the set even just in terms of sculpts or even confirmed characters, so there's plenty of room for excitement to appear and grow.
So far, though, I'm not feeling much personal interest for the set.
The explosion in emotional spectrum Lanterns has passed me by as a fan, so that's at least 10 slots (one sixth of the set) I don't have a strong character-driven connection to even if I otherwise may like the core characters. (It's rather much as how I don't care about owning the Cosmic, Hulk or Bag-Man Spideys despite being a Spider-man fan; I'll be selling/trading those, too, if I pull them.) This doesn't make me a "hater," it's merely a lack of interest.
Really, the rarity scheme at Wizkids has helped me along down that path. Starting with the most recent (SR) Sinestro being too expensive to bother with once he didn't come out of my case; that effectively killed my interest in building with the Sinestro Corps theme. This was followed by making those Black Lanterns as chases, something only sanely dealt with as items to sell off and recoup my bulk buy cash with, which is what I did with the two that I pulled.
While the Wonder Twins are obviously great, nostalgic news for some, once again there's no appeal for me; I'd trade or sell one if I pulled it.
So, you can see that so far I'm mostly being confronted with items I find myself hoping are high up on the rarity scale in the set because I don't want them and if I do pull them I'll want them to have some secondary market value so I can use them to get pieces I actually want. It's a little sad.
I'm sure as we get closer I'll find more of interest - many terrific possibilities are in the OP list along with those others have dropped in the thread - but much as with BatB it's looking to be a lighter set for me. I'm more likely to either buy light or dive in on a case with the intent of quickly selling off a chunk of it, including any chases (and my impression is that the set will have them) as I did with BatB.
I continue to watch with interest for news to help me decide how to approach this set.
I'd rather they do what they're doing (making more contemporary characters) instead of having an Origins redux.
Also, @ miraclo:
When crisis first came out, Sinestro was only 25-30 bucks. It's only been recently that the price has been driven up on the secondary market, as more yellow lanterns were made and the general stock of lantern ephemera has risen.

I pulled one in my first brick, and promptly traded him for some random M&M piece. Kicking myself for that...

I've seen this mentioned several times over the months (much as I do about the deals someone is always talking about having gotten on ebay; I half expect someone to tell me how he scored a vial of the elixer vitae for $2 and free shipping) but all I can say is that any time I looked it was more than what I was willing to pay. Basically, I'm calling into question the use of the term "recently."

Modern Age (1995 - 2008): 0
Last two years (2009 -2010): 5 (with another 10 very strongly rumored)
I was going to make a thread about almost the exact same thing, except here's how I was dividing thing:
1930s: 2 characters
Crimson Avenger (1938)
Batman of Detective #27 (I'll take your word for it, haven't seen the sculpt)
1940s 2 characters
Superman #41 (1942)
Wonder Woman #1 (by the way boneyard, your list says "Sensation #1" which is incorrect)
1950s 1 character
Sgt Rock (1959)
1960s 0 characters
1970s 1 character
Wonder Twins with Gleek
1980s 0 characters
The most awful decade of comics ever, the 1990s 2 characters
Doomsday
Bane
2000s through 2010 THIRTEEN characters
Ten White Lanterns (including Sinestro, Green Arrow, and Hal Jordan)
Atrocitus
Larfleeze
Guy Gardner (Green/Red)
Don't know where to fit 1 character
John Stewart (looks like a modern era costume to me, though of course, he was created in the 1970s)
-------------------------------
So, there seems to me to be way too many Modern Era 2000-2010 characters to be a real celebration of DC's 75th anniversary. Growing up in the 1970s and enjoying DC's upsurge in quality in the 1980s, I was really hoping for a lot more 70s & 80s representation (more than just the Wonder Twins).
I was also hoping we could just forget the awful 90s, but whatever.
And the Silver Age 1950s-1960s formed the heart of modern DC comics, so it's somewhat sad to see that time period slighted (so far, we only have Sgt. Rock revealed, and while I've nothing against Rock, he's not the most exciting reveal from that time period).
So, basically, my main interest would be:
(1) The Golden Age, which seems to be somewhat covered.
(2) The 1960s-1980s, which seems to be rather poorly covered.
(3) And just a smattering of the Modern Era, which seems to be completely overdone.
Golden Age (1938 - 1964): 4
Silver Age (1964 - 1986): 2
Dark Age* (1986 - 1994): 2
Modern Age (1995 - 2008): 0
Last two years (2009 -2010): 5 (with another 10 very strongly rumored)

I'm not sure that's the usual division of the Ages. I tend to recall the Bronze Age as being half of what you call the Silver Age here. Let me go to Wikipedia (not the perfect source, but whatever)...
Quote
The Golden Age of Comic Books was a period in the history of American comic books, generally thought of as lasting from the late 1930s until the late 1940s or early 1950s.
So, that would be 4 characters, the Trinity plus Crimson Avenger.
Quote
The Silver Age of Comic Books was a period of artistic advancement and commercial success in mainstream American comic books, predominantly those in the superhero genre. Following the Golden Age of Comic Books and an interregnum in the early to mid-1950s, the Silver Age is considered to cover the period from 1956 to circa 1970,
So, that would be 1 character, Sgt. Rock.
Quote
The Bronze Age of Comic Books is an informal name for a period in the history of mainstream American comic books usually said to run from 1971 to 1985. It follows the Silver Age of Comic Books.
So, that would be 1 character, the Wonder Twins. Possibly 2 if you include John Stewart's origin, but I personally wouldn't since he's not wearing his Bronze Age costume.
Quote
The Modern Age of Comic Books (also known as The Iron Age) is an informal name for the period in the history of mainstream American comic books generally considered to last from the mid-1980s until present day.
So, that would be 15 characters (16 with John Stewart).
So the progression is 4, 1, 1, 16. That's a pretty poor showing for the Silver and Bronze Ages. But maybe the previews are not representative of the figures in the set. I hope.
