Me too, especially since he's such a Mark Shaw fan...
The lion in question is in fact a leonine alien, who worked with the Manhunters, basically until they turned on him and enslaved him. Yet, they still used him as their symbol.
JTR, since you got two-thirds of the last one, why don't you take it?

When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.

He was fighting Batman atop a building, got struck by lightning, and fell into the river.
He was escaping in a motorboat which blew up.

Well now, they've all at one time or another been drawn on paper, then colored up with ink, with some words in bubbles with these things (they're called "panels") and then put into the magic press where many copies are made. These are then sent out to the store so people can buy them and stare at the images therein and wonder why Archie feels the need to choose between Betty, Veronica or Cheryl when he should work it right and end up with all 3 women.
They've also been stuck together in really bad fan-fic storylines.
