I heard there were 2 at the PCQ, but that there were also acouple of decks that splashed the engine into their standard curve build.
I guess in essence the latter is a bigger deal that having actual Frankie.decs around. When a mono-SF and a mono-Sentinel (i think that was the other) deck splashes the 12 cards in question just to compete it adds credibility to the argument that the card is broken.
After further inspection it turns out that the decks that ran the full "Frankie suite" were LIS variants. Sorry for the confusion.

God that sf player was lucky.....it was funny thou...frankie raye help him get his ####
Anyone feel that Frankie's flavor text is being spoken by the Ban List and not Galactus?
That's a trend I've noticed with banned cards/errata'd infinite loops:
Antarctic Research Base: Due to near-cataclysmic disasters in the past, Mr. Fantastic contstructed the Antarctic research base to house his more dangerous experiments." (These experiments obviously involved Fate Artifacts)
Fiddler: "Fiddler's first mission didn't end so well...."
Chemo: "GG. GG. OOP."
Gone But Not Forgotten: "June 25. 10:47 PM" (They got the date/time wrong, but it's the thought that counts.)
Valerian Von Doom: "Power runs in my family!" (The "family" of free 1-drops seems to be shrinking progressively....)
Detective Chimp: "Let me tell you about my friends...." (....the Arkham Inmates, and how good they are at rigging elections.)
Go Down Fighting: As with GBNF, it lived up to its name and "went down fighting."
And now Frankie. Maybe from now on powerful cards should be given ironic flavor text so that if UDE has to ban them we can make more corny jokes about them :cheeky:
Frankie is now banned... Nenora got dragged along for the ride, too.

Quote
More recently, rather than appearing as supporting characters in team-based decks, they have appeared together in some degenerate decks. This came as a result of our reducing the amount of team stamping in general, and specifically on this class of cards. Fiddler, Isaac Bowin and Valeria Von Doom, Heir to Latveria were recently added to our banned list as characters that did too much for this cost. Regrettably, I must add two other, similar cards to the banned list that can be too easily played in any deck and to too great an effect.
Frankie Raye ◊ Nova, Optimistic Youth was the most clear-cut example of a card that was doing too much for its cost. The card was also contributing to extremely long build phases, which is something we obviously want to avoid.
Nenora, Skrull Usurper was not as clear an offender, but it was another card that did too much by adding to character recruitment count, putting another body in play, and teaming-up any number of assorted characters for a very small price.
There are, of course, many possible angles we could have taken in dealing with the various combo decks that had come to light. We feel that cutting out the generic tools for powerful, discounted one-cost characters should rectify the situation. I won’t be going into detail on any of the decklists leading to these bans before the upcoming Pro Circuit.
As fortune would have it, the current Hobby League is giving away Extended Art Frankie Rayes as participation cards. In light of this announcement, we are sending Extended Art Darkseid, Apokoliptian Oppressors to our Hobby League organizers to distribute in addition to the Frankie Rayes.
Here is an updated list of our banned cards:

[cliche]Nice try Frankie Raye slash Nenora, but you're made of sand![/cliche]
"The only punishment for treason, soldier, is death."
I'm gonna go on record by disagreeing with UDE on this one. I stand by my opinion that Frankie was balanced and Phantom Stranger is broken. I've never seen the Nenora deck go off, so I'm going to try to abstain from this one, but having never seen it in action, I'm going to choose to disbelieve it's as powerful as everyone says.
I'd suggest offloading your Haywire (0)'s while they're still worth something, though, because Humphreys' general tone in the article is "we're banning all playable free characters that don't have Loyalty or teamstamped abilities".

...this is either the silliest or most insulting thing you've ever said, honestly. You think all of us who posted the various Frankie abuse decks were lying?

I'm gonna have to disagree here. UDE primarily banned the free characters because they were doing too much for a player at too little a cost. While Haywire is a completely free character, he doesn't bring with him any benefits besides combat modifiers when you have no cards in hand or equip him with an equipment. Frankie draws you cards, Nenora teams up your guys, Fiddler acts as KO'd pile recursion, and Valeria cycles cards. Haywire is just a body. I don't know if they'd ban him, because if an infinite recruit loop develops that involves him they're probably going to ban the enabler rather than a free character who could be replaced by any of the otehr alternate recruit cost characters in the card pool.

I'd like to see these "Frankie Abuse" decks work without Phantom Stranger before passing judgment, personally.
Where are they posted? I don't surf realms that much unless something particularly interesting comes up (such as this topic). I try to stay on Universe as much as possible, specifically because of people like you. If you'd like to post a link to them for me, I'll check them out.

Lyle, the fact that some of the decks have been posted in this thread, that you've refused to even go look for them *in the thread itself* and instead are simply demanding a link - honestly, I'm not your frigging search engine.
Suffice it to say that although Stranger makes the decks better, the reason Frankie is the ban-figure and not Stranger is because Frankie's degree of deck filtering makes advanced combo decks possible. If you removed Stranger, you could still do the job reasonably well with Mr. Mxyzptlk and Secret Sanctuary + Haywire, because Frankie is the problem card.
