It was something like Vernigtung Commandos...I don't remember what that means, and I don't have a Langenscheidt's Pocket German Dictionary, so the spelling may be way off. They were from the Adventures of Captain America mini, from 1991, I think.
I'm going to award it to DZ, as he's VERY close with the spelling and almost spot-on from a phonetic perspective. The three villains were part of the Vernichtungs-Kommandos and appeared, as DZ correctly notes, in 1991's Adventures of Captain America. The back cover blurbs translated the name as "Death Squad" or "Killing Squad," which I would also have considered acceptable answers.
Who am I?
I considered myself a good guy even though I killed my enemies.
My main weapon was a gun which fired poisoned darts.
I wore a suit of metallic body armor.
My father wore a variation of my outfit before me but was neither a super-hero or villain.
My trademark was a pair of pennies left on my victims eyes
When I died a well-known Marvel hero put pennies over my eyes.

Egads man, I'm starting to rub off on you.
And the need to correct the spelling indicates that CuCr is also rubbing off on you.
I wasn't correcting your spelling...Blitzkrieg and Blitzkrieger are two different guys.
As for a vacation, I live in Florida, so someplace a little cooler may be better....

Yes, I am Daredevil's foe, Copperhead. My father was the model for the covers of the old pulp novels...I assumed the Copperhead identity to avenge a perceived injustice on the part of the pulp books' publishers.
I am a brilliant scientist and a proud American. I invented a scientific process that gave me certain super-powers. I used these powers to battle a costumed hero, because the Vice-President of the United States told me to; but he later turned out not to be what he seemed.

Gosh, that's a great question, CuCr! The Skrull Richard Nixon comes to mind for a Veep who was not what he seemed, so I will guess Cold Warrior from the 3-D Man run in Marvel Prenmiere.

That was no Skrull, that was Checkers in disguise.
