Spent 3 days on a mini-vacation with my 5 yr old son and my dad up north at the cabin. Had a great time, but wtf is up with all this 90+ degree weather even in the UP of Michigan?
Black Keys: Girl is on My Mind I know they kind of fell out of vogue, but Rubber Factory was them at their absolute apex and this song is my favorite from that LP. If you grew tired of the hipster look/sound, just forget the last 12 years or so and listen to this track with fresh ears.
And another flashback to little aqhoffman listening to the FM radio, reading comic books out by the neighbor's pool... Gold by John Stewart
Dammit, I realized I have a mulligan on F songs. Free by Train
There is virtually nothing about the band Train that I like, but when this first single of theirs came out, I thought it was one of the more powerful mainstream rock songs I'd ever heard. This morning I was working in the garage with my little daughter "helping" when this played on my CD mix, and she immediately started wanting to dance and even though it is NOT a dancing kinda song, I remembered how much I love it.
Hope everybody had a great 4th of July. Team America fu<k yeah!
There were no city fireworks for us and we decided not to attend the ones in a bigger city nearby. We had ribs and just hung out at home. Our dog was freaked out to the point of panting, because of personal fireworks. Watched some movies and the first episode of Iron Man Armored Adventures. Anyone remember that show?!
So I was perusing Disney+ over the weekend and decided to check out the one Avengers cartoon I'd never seen before...Avengers: United they Stand . It was horrible. I was super busy and travelled at least 10 days a month during that time, plus had a pretty serious relationship, so almost all shows in the '99-2003 or 4 timeframe are new to me, but I do not regret missing that trainwreck.
Anybody watch it? Some of you knuckleheads may have been kids when that was on.
I took the ole boat out onto the Colorado river this weekend.
I talked my friend into going Sunday. We'd meet at my house at 5am, and get to Willow Beach and in the water by 6am. He talked me into meeting at my house at 3am to get there and in the water at 4am because supposedly the bass are more likely to hit then.
So I stayed up late Friday night, got up around 1 pm on Saturday (the 4th). Grilled burgers, potatoes, and corn on the cob. Watched Hamilton. Then stayed up all night playing video games until my friend showed up at 3am. Was on the river at 4 am, and saw about 5 other boats out there fishing. I still have horrible luck with Lake Mead/Colorado River. Not a single bite. It was lovely seeing the sun rise in the canyon, though.

That does sound lovely! I take for granted the Great Lakes being so close by, and yet rarely in the last 10 years have I been on the water for a sunset or a sunrise.
"Freecard [Where Death Is Most Alive]" - Dark Tranquillity
I liked the intro. This was some pretty melodic metal.
"Forsaken" - Dream Theater
For me, Dream Theater songs I either love or dislike. This was on the love side.
"Floods" - Pantera
They have such a great sound. I have this playing in the background while I work, and at the first note I knew this was a Pantera song. Great solo section (both the solo and background music).
"Fat Bottomed Girls" - Queen
A classic. Still fun.
"Fang of the Cobra" - Kingsnake
Good groove. I was disappointed when the singing started. I think it would have made a good instrumental song.
"Fox on the Run" - Sweet
The bassist for Sweet recently died. In this video he's playing a really sweet red Rickenbacker. No one is plugged in, so they're just going through the motions. I swear that guitarist is high. Very funny stuff. The song itself...is ok.
"Flamethrower" - The J Geils Band
I don't think I've ever heard this song. That's weird, as they were such a big band. A pretty good song.

Oh, YIKES. I'm glad we agree that United was bad. I never even knew that existed before today. I punched it up and at the 5 minute mark I was ready to quit. At 10 I gave up. Theme song, character design, voice acting, and general story were all grating.
I was going to shift over to Avengers EMH as a pallet cleaner since I consider it a second place to the DCAU. That's actually high praise coming from me. But I saw Fantastic Four World's Greatest Heroes and went with that instead. I may be alone in this, but I really liked that show. I didn't like the character design, but really enjoyed everything else, much like Transformers Prime.
Another great series that seems to have flown under the radar was/is Legion of Superheroes.

Agreed. LoSH was excellent, and gone too soon. I used to be so busy with working full time, going to college for teaching degree, plus being an officer in the Army reserves that there are MANY comics, shows, movies, albums that I still discover from those years that totally should have been on my radar. Plus after 9/11, I lost about 4 of the next 9 years totally as far as pop culture stuff goes. At the comic shop it's almost like a challenge to find some miniseries or storyline from those time periods that I shouldn't have missed. And thanks to Amazon or Netflix, a movie will show up that is in the same category.
