i just want goldilocks clix, my man. fairly costed, accurate to the character, fun
Yea, I’m definitely down with longer dials, but only if they actually manage to capture the character. If it was just Darla and She Hulk with the 9 click dials O could get behind it, but with Scott and Medusa also supporting uncharacteristically lomg dials with the exact same design scheme makes them just come off as bland and lengthy just to make them objectively better than their previous dials regardless of whether it makes sense.
Dial length COULD be such a great stat to add back into dials to represent characters flavor, power, and personality, but done like this makes it come as bland.
Still going to use these dials because they look fun from a gameplay standpoint, but not from a character standpoint
"I remember you said to me once, you said... 'if death ever comes your way and won't let you pass... make sure you scream right back in his face"
I’m still mixed on this set.
The captain versions of the core F4 and Herbie look good on paper but I wonder how good they actually will be especially if you don’t run good or enough sidekicks.
60 points for 8 clicks sounds amazing but I’m afraid it won’t be as good in practice.
40 for 5 is probably the safer option.

The problem with a lot of the longer dials though is they don’t have outwit protection. I think
Scott is the only one that has outwit himself.
outwitting a defense power is going to make those clicks fly buy quickly especially for people that know what there doing.
She hulk having 9 clicks isn’t terribly outlandish in terms of what the character could accomplish but it’s unheard of in clix. But again no way to protect against outwit.

i'd argue dial length puts you in better position to deal with outwit without protected: outwit.
a 5 click dial with impervious down the whole thing is going to be a lot more vulnerable to it than a 9 click dial, even with a naked start. dial length is the one thing you can't outwit away

just cause someone else could beat them up doesn't mean they're not appropriately costed (or accurately designed for the character)
there's always someone else that can beat everyone up. i mean, that's how this game works

Oh, I agree. But these characters generally don't have special powers or special traits.
Having 2-3 extra clix...is like their special power. Like the Spiderman people with Secret Identities. 15 Point Mary Jane with 6 clix, a stop click and can summon 3 autonomous jerks while being Autonomous herself... ridiculous.
I don't begrudge anyone for not liking it, but I don't think it's worse than any power creep of the past, it's just different.
Are they all dumb? Maybe! But it isn't new.
I love the newest flash Thompson but he is worse than these guys. 35 Points for 7 clicks, a stop click, a crazy back end, and he just....turns off shape changes on opposing characters because...I guess why not?! But you kinda have to squint at him to see it(not saying you didn't already appreciate it, I don't know). A stop click! Will power! 2 free actrions(posion/sidestep)...Autonomous!Traited plasticity and shape change and his last 3 clicks he gets either free action support or free move with crazy flurry.... how many advantages can one little figure have?
--------------
Personally they do not offend me, because deep is all they are. They don't break any fundamental game rules like, being autonomous, having stop clix, teleporting across the map(colossal retal), being summoned out of nowhere(IDS), and the myriad of other dumb things they've put into this game. They can just take a few more damage than usual.
I think the real problem with the dial lengths is just how obvious it is. You can see without even squinting that something is different. But these figures do not to my eye appear to be all that scary even to see across the map. They play by the rules.

Can I help you out with Scott Lang being 9 clicks?
I talk about it when I pull him. In Matt Fraction’s run on FF Scott Lang unlocks the true power of the Pym Particles. Once he does he becomes an incredible powerhouse and literally strips the armor off of his daughter’s killer, Dr. Doom in a 1 VS 1 battle.
Reed and the Future Foundation explain what he unlocked as this:
The Pym Particles don’t only affect people on 2 Axises, but 3.
Durability. Size Manipulation. Strength.
Heretofore any hero who had used the particles had only accessed two of the three at any given time. Scott discovered that you could unlock all three at once and used that massive power surge in his fight with doom.
Hope that helps you with the “why”.
That works for me, cheers Scott!
I'm really liking the villain options in the set so far, both the prime and non prime versions of wizard/diablo look really fun. Mad Thinker will be great for helping out the little cadre of robots in the FF theme to.
Latveria and intelligencia themes have also been fleshed out a bit to, giving some more options outside of the handful we had.

Ba, Ba, Ba - Bingo!
I dont see whay this is so hard for people to grasp. Even in the Video Scotty P said "wow, this is a 75 point dial?!" He wasn't surprised because it seemed normal. Simply put, character with longer dials stand better chance of not getting one shot-ted, having a chance to fight back and taking longer to KO.
I don't understand what some don't seem to understand.
I wouldn't conflate not-agreeing with you with not-understanding.
It's also possible to both, understand and agree, and still look at other angles instead of just digging your heals in that "thing bad".
For myself the fact remains that despite the irregularities in design this time, compared to a lot of the BS I've seen in this game, these dials aren't ####.
The only thing new about these figures is the method which they chose to make them interesting/fun or overpowered/stupid(whichever you prefer).
Look at the Common Wolverine from Deadpool and X-Force. That figure was clearly ment to be an homage to the very original wolverines in design methodology. And look at that, 70 points, 9 clicks and almost 4 years old.
I loved playing him, most people that I talked to didn't think he was interesting at all. His "special power" was just that he was deep. "Quantity has a quality all it's own."

true, that's a fair point. i understand your assertion even as i don't agree with it. these dials may not have broken special abilities (well, maybe stardust) but the relative simplicity of the dials also doesn't mean they're appropriately cost for what they have
75 points > 75 points, and that shouldn't be the maths
