You're thinking of the right story, wrong reason. Thorn nearly killed Wildcat, at which point they realized (in a quickie retcon) that he'd been brain damaged earlier.
Something to do with CuCr's fave icy bad guy the Icicle?
When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.

I'll give it to JTR, who was closest, and got the brain damage part.
Wildcat had been mind-controlled by the Icicle (not sure how THAT was supposed to work) in an earlier story, and it was discovered when Thorn almost killed him. It was a cute little retcon to explain why the writer's wrote him lke a street-smart book-dumb guy when he should just be plain smart. Nowadays, they've reverted to that characterization-- though I guess that could just come from hangingaround in gyms.

I got me a thread. Now all I need is a question to ask. :cross-eye And if I word it all in ebonics, Most of you won't get it.
My next guess would be Deadman. I figure it's a circus guy of some sort.
It was the one-armed man. Actually, it was the one hook man. That's the one who offed Boston Brand. And it was Boston Brand who recently (in the an issue of Nightwing, around issue #103 or after) said that he knew of Dick's dad and that Johnny had inspired him (Brand) to create his costume.
Q: What voice actor who plays a prominent member of the DCAU also played a character in a seminal (live action) film of the 90s who was killed in a horrific and yet amusing way?

Phil LaMar ???
He was the voice of John Stewart and died in a rather horrific and yet funny way in the movie Pulp Fiction.
Right you are! Didn't think that would be so easy!
Wasn't that long ago I mentioned him myself and the whole thing about three of the Welcome Back Kotter cast members getting together to do a parody of that very scene.
--I got nothing, once again. My first guess was Enemy Ace.
