Originally posted by de4dp00l OK, so if Haymaker is a Close Combat Action, can you use it with blades, and do D6 +2 damage? After all, BCF activates when you give a CCA...
BCF replaces the damage value. In effect you would do base + 2 for haymaker and then replace that by whatever the die roll is. IMO, it's not worth it.

well, it won't be a PAC, but i'll make a list for everyone. i'll try and get PL's help too, or maybe just have him check it over for accuracy before i post it. i'll include the feats too, just to be safe. PM me if you want me to send it to you, or let you know when it's been posted.
Lying to myself was never the problem.
The problem was when I believed.

Actually, if you read BCF's description, it says the die roll becomes the damage value...

BLADES/CLAWS/FANGS (optional): When you give this character a close combat action, if the attack succeeds, roll one six-sided die. The result of the die roll becomes this character’s damage value.
As it's written, Haymaker should be able to tack the 2 damage (and the -1 attack) onto a BCF roll. I'm not saying that I like it, but short of an FAQ entry changing the wording of BCF, or outlining specific timing on BCF and Feats, I think that's really the only way to rule it. Sort of like Energy Explosion - the power replaces your Damage value with 1, but Enhancement or SHIELD can increase that replacement value rather than your orginal base damage.
Actually, BCF says "if the roll succeeds" suggesting that you have to make the attack roll PRIOR to your BCF roll, since the -1 attack will apply on your attack roll, it should be assumed that all modifications given by the card should apply at once : the -1 attck AND +2dmg. Now, your printed dmg value is of +2, and AFTER that, if he attack succeds, you roll your BCF, thus replacing your previously enhanced damage value.

Well, I disagree that it's the only way to rule (read?) it. I do agree that there probably needs to be some clarification on timing issues. As it stands, however, if you opt to use BCF then you won't get the +2 modifier from Haymaker.

Fair enough - it's certainly not the only way to read it, and like I said, I'd rather it didn't work with BCF. The potential for 8 damage is just too much. Just trying to point out that it can be read that way, and someone's going to try it unless it's FAQ'd.
