Hey, I have to agree that if you have an extra 10 points and no one to upgrade, go with the Paramedic. But at least attempt to explain it. It's not like putting a Scourge on the team and calling it a theme.
That makes no sense.
But if you wanna drop a Hooker on a Batman Team? Fine by me.

Those are things that when I make a themed team factor in, if the team already has a support person I don't feel the need to at the para.. Just switch my statement to Avengers and ignore the xorn.. :P

Avengers, huh? What about Jane Foster. She was Thors love interest, Thor is on the Avengers (And Ultimates for that matter).
You can play the following figures with the Legion and still qualify as a theme team (according to the comics)
REV Superman
REV Supergirl
REV Science Police
U Mordru (yes, he actually has pitched in with the Legion a couple of times in a major crisis)
V Flash (Cosmic Treadmill, baby)
V Cyborg
V Changeling
V Raven
EV Superboy (when we get him)
V Robin
(All of these qualify thanks to the Teen Titans/Legion Special)
REV Paramedic (The Legion works for the state, so Paramedics aren't out of the question)
and I'm sure there are a bunch more...
The Legion is one of those teams that really pays off in a Theme Team environment.
There's an older Legion/Titans crossover as well that has guys like Arsenal, Nightwing, Starfire, Troia, etc. as well so pretty much any Legion/Titan combo can be considered a "theme" team.

So here I go adding to Kaitouace's sig again, but he hit the nail on the head. FOOM is very playable.

And I don't have a Jane foster, and note that she is the LE paramedic, therefore playing a paramedic makes sense.. Thanks for helping.. :P

yea i dont like paramedics very much because of the concept. a bandaid and some stiches arent gonna help superman or thor recover from a punch from the hulk or one of desperos psychic blasts.

nope, i'd #### it up with the vet if i had too lol. i won't even use rookie pyro on my brotherhood teams. it's kinda the point of a theme team to make it more difficult to stay competitive. if you're gonna make one exception, it makes it that much easier to make more. the next thing you know, you'll be rationalizing that Tony Stark picked up the hookers on a drunken binge.
I agree that Paramedics should only be used if it can be justified- which generally means that I only use her on teams that have Thor on it, since she IS Jane Foster and not Moira MacTaggert. And since she hasn't appeared in the Ultimate Universe, this means REV Thor not the U!
As for other themes, if they really SHOULD have had the TA, then they can go on that team. Eg. E White Queen SHOULD have had the X-men TA, and U Flash SHOULD have had JSA, R Marrow SHOULD have had Morlocks, etc ,etc.
There are plenty of pure themes that require mixing TAs. Thunderbolts for example. Meteorite has Avengers, Zemo has MOE, Blizzard has Syndicate or MOE, Hawkeye has a dozen different TAs (if you pretned that the Ultimates version is the normal one).
Christ did not come to condemn the world, but to save it.
According to the dictionary "theme"can be "subject of artistic representation"Someone who spends 80-90% of their build total towards a team theme and then gets crucified for buying a medic is crazy. The game is NOT perfect in its point allocation-numbers don't always add even.By your definition Batman working with cops is cheesy. The Avengers augmented by SHIELD-THAT NEVER HAPPENS!!!!!! I love the holier than thou taste of this thread-press on.
My number one "Theme" Team pet peeve is when people assume that having everyone share a TA is the only way to have a Theme.
Just throwing together figs that share a TA and calling it a theme can be rather uncreative. Show me at least one issue where Spiral and Loki team up.
"Themes" can come in a lot of varieties, and shared TA/Factions are just one. You can build based on specific instances of character combinations in comics, or be completely unbased on comics (i.e. everyone is Green, everyone is has a Bird name, All Robots, Characters represent something other than themselves, etc.).
I love theme teams, and I love the broad possibilities that they provide for assembling figures in a creative fashion and without necessarily just trying to put together the most focused destructive machine possible.
Favorite Theme team:
LE Arwyn w Kreeg
Vet Cyborg
Vet Scarecrow
Vet Blastaar
