Okay. If your able and willing to spend insane amounts of money or go to a load of tournaments to try to win one I guess it's possible...but I mean you have to be insanely devoted to the game. It was better when they had Sentinel and Sinestro available in stores. Or they could have made him con-exclusive but make more. Hopefully they will actually listen to people, learn from last year and make more of Dark Phoenix. Because for all of the people that feel that Wizkids can do no wrong there are a lot of fans who probably quit or don't care about the game as much as they used to. I know some people who won't buy any more packs because of set retirement. The thing that I didn't like about Galactus was that it seemed like it was made with the scalpers in mind. I still like Clix but I also think that the way they went about Galactus was dumb.

Games that have had large advertising campaigns, and a lot of hype, that go on to sell very little product due to lack of interest or lack of quality tend to win awards much more often than they should. If one of the big companies (WotC, for example) put out an excellent product that is widely praised, they have very little chance of winning at GAMA. It's the nature of the awards.
Consequently, people in the industry put very little weight/faith in the results.
I guess that explains why Indy Clix won one of these things a little while ago.

Dude, I probably have less money than most people on this site and still got them, so quit your crying. And if Wizkids was making a figure for scalpers, then they'd sell them for top dollar themselves. I mean, let's see here, they could sell them normally for $75 a pop or sell them online and elsewhere for well over $100 to make even more money in their quest for world domination.....

Indy won cause to date it was one of the best expansions/starters wizkids has had IMO.
Why didn't Galactus get the Nom...a couple o' reasons maybe...
Like Steven Speilberg.....Galactus is a Jew, so forget about them guys getting awards unless it's a movie about a little alien trying to make a long distance phone call.....and maybe most people who do the nominations are still honked off that...
GALACTUS TRIED TO EAT THE FREAKING PLANET!!!! C'MON TO FORGIVE AND FORGET IS ONE THING BUT DUDE?!!! MASS EXTINCTION AND ANNILIATION OF THE PLANET IS NOT SOMETHING THAT GETS AWARDS!!!
but Unleashed?....Yeah, it got the shaft!!

Hey I'm not crying, I'm just stating the fact that they were hard to get unless you were lucky at the cons or you're willing to blow a lot of money on eBay. I'm not one of those guys who says that everyone should be entitled to one, because Wizkids can do whatever they want, and $75 is already a lot of money for a piece of plastic. I do think that it was a bad move to produce so little, because they should have known demand was going to be high.

You've had as many as 3 or 4? Where did you go to acquire each one, Ebay, conventions, or venues? If it was conventions or venues, how much did you pay to attend each function (traveling costs, admission tickets, etc.)? And how much did each Galactus himself cost? If any of the purchases were through Ebay or off of the trading forums here, how much extra was paid for shipping & handling? Any insurance or tracking costs? I'm curious.

Admission for both cons was free.
All you have to do is get free passes to two cons, win a tourney prize and spend $150! I can't believe I didn't see how easy it was.
You're so hardcore you don't know you're hardcore.

Even if the passes weren't free, it would've been a whopping $115....still cheaper than on eBay. I paid to go to a con and enjoy the con, not to go just to get Galactus, so any money (including tickets...if I had to pay for them) went into the enjoyment of the con and shouldn't even be factored into the price.
Big G isn't that hard to get guys and wasn't that hard then either. Like I said, I got mine at the retail price or won one and didn't have to spend two to three hundred dollars on one, let alone three.

Yes Gacy, but you were Already going to those conventions so of course you don't have to consider the price of convention admission, the traveling costs to get there, money towards a hotel if the con isn't happening in your home town, money for food, as well as a little spending money for purchases beyond Galactus. In your case, you were already prepared to spend money for all of that, and a convention exclusive is just a happy extra.
For the rest of us, how exactly can we Not factor all that into the price?

If you want to factor all that into the price of Galactus, then that means your food, gas, room (if you get one), the con itself, and other stuff was free then.
No matter how you slice it, Galactus is/was $75 or free if you won him. The point is, if you wanted him, he wasn't impossible to get. If someone wants him so bad, take the extra steps to get him, like traveling with friends, share a room with friends or stay at a friend's house nearby...or just sleep in your car like I've done a few times (I REALLY DO have little money).

How can you really believe that Galactus deserved to win the best miniature category? Look at the level of detail on any of the warhammer or 40k figures and compare that with Galactus. There is no comparison, warhammer blows him away, and that doesn't even take into account the amazing paint jobs that can be given to a warhammer figure. I love the game, but in comparison with other games most miniatures seem cheap and unattractive. I always thought Galactus (along with sentinel and sinestro) looked like a cheap action figure, but I have high hopes for Dark Pheonix looking cool (as I have yet to see her in person).
