“Hawk represents chaos while Dove represents order”
I'd say its more accurate to say Hawk represents war and Dove represents peace, although you could make an argument that war and peace are extensions of chaos and order respectively, so its a nitpick.
For a good look at the pair though, check out the JLU episode: "Hawk and Dove" where Dove is the male version, Don Hall (voiced by Fred Savage :P), rather than the female Dawn Granger.
Originally posted by DarkCrisis Do you consider tv commercials for tv shows to be spoilers?
I'm just curious.
Hmmm...depends, I suppose. If it is continuity/on-going storyline with twists and turns (like a comic) like, say, a show like 24--AND, the commercial spoils something from a month away? Yep. If the commercial says, 'Friends Friday at 8pm'? Nope. It's pretty rare that a commercial will spoil a major plot point--mostly becuase they want watchers to tune in. If we knew who shot JR before the episode aired, who would watch?
Mind you, I download what TV shows I watch. I rarely watch them on TV. When I watch things on TV, it's stuff like cartoons, and comedy specials, etc. This is partly because I don't want spoilers. Mostly 'cause I don't like commercials in general.
Plus, people don't purchase individual TV shows (usually).
And, technology exists to block out commercials. VCRs have been able to do this for about a decade, and Tivo improves upon it.
I don't see why it is such a big deal for you to include a spoiler warning. Neither of us should be deciding whether any given Realmer wants to read a spoiler.
Put the warning up and let them decide for themselves.
What people have to remember (and this is most important about Raven) is that the cartoon characters powers are changed from the comic.
Raven in the comics doesn't TK and doesn't fly. She teleports. Personally, I use the dial from the XP Phoenix unique with a repainted Raven figure for my cartoon Titans team. You get the TK, you get the ranged attack, and she even has the team ability.
I'm also confused about people saying Terra should have TK. Ranged attack, incapacitate, barrier, flight yeah. That's why I use vet Iceman.
I think the first shapeshifter we've gotten who is playable is Snowbird (which is why I use her dial for Beast Boy). Changeling and Chameleon both need help.

I certianly didn't mean to offend anyone but I do think it was ROYALLY stupid for Winnick to give her HIV.
What happens if she accidently infects a villian or a fellow hero?
As I mentioned earlier it's stupid to have a HIV positive hero if it's not going to be treated realisticly.
Winnick has said that he will not show her as having "bad times" and that it will never cause her death. At most we will see her popping pills.
That's not realistic. Heck, If I had that disease I think I'd be ticked off at what he did. That's not how the disease efects a person. You can't take pills and be magically okay. You certianly can't take a job that causes you to get get beat up and cut and needing medical attention every weekend.
I love Winnicks writing but I HATE his Pedro homages. You miss him, Judd we get it. Now stop.
I agree on the speedy thing on both fronts - the initial joke was tasteless, but a hero with HIV is also a bad idea, especially a hero who fires sharp things at people. It's sort like have a boxer with HIV - it won't happen because boxers tend to bleed on each other. The minute a boxer is confirmed with HIV, his career is over. There's no justification from an education standpoint, because functionally, she's no different from anyone else. What is she supposed to be teaching the readers?
BTW, despite running my big yap about it, the HIV thing was covered a long time ago in another thread, and if discussion is going to continue, it should probably move into a new thread. This isn't the best place for it, and may get the thread pulled.
Originally posted by TayJK Does anyone know where I would find the names of everyone in that big splash page at the end of the latest issue? I want to know who all those people are!
How about right here?
Can't tell who the silhouette in the helicopter is, but we have Superboy, Hawk and CM3 (a.k.a. Captain Marvel Jr.) on the chopper.
Staying on that page we have Tempest (formerly Aqualad) in the red & black below them, with Cyborg, then Raven below him. Above Flash's shoulder is Mirage (the girl w/the ponytail). The other two up there are Herald (a.k.a. Hornblower, a.k.a. Mal Duncan) with the blue hooded cape and Argent with the pale skin and black body suit. The big hulking brute next to Kid Flash is Wildebeest, and Robin & Beast Boy finish out the bottom of that page. Over to the next page we have Starfire, Harlequin (a.k.a. the Joker's Daughter a.k.a. Duela Dent - whose post-Crisis story still hasn't been told), Red Star, Nightwing, Arsenal & Pantha. The last two people on that page are Wonder Girl and Flamebird.
Now if you want to know who they are, rather than just their names, I can help you with that too.

Don't use someone else's poor writing as an excuse for your own bad taste.
I haven't read but one issue of Titans since Speedy joined, so I can't say too much, except maybe give the man some time. Characters are not carpets. One can not simply unroll everything and be done with it. At least give the man some time to do something with the character before judging it.
From what I read Speedy was of the mind to do this anyway, with or without backing. Think it might be safer to have more experienced characters look after her at least?
Furthermore, yes she's an archer, therefore handles sharp pointy objects. So, how many times has Arsenal cut himself on his own arrows? It's fairly difficult to do you know since you tend not to grab the arrow by the head.
Poision on Speedy was bad taste. But I think it is OK to have her with HIV. There would be so many plot and subplot to explore with that issue.
On my Titans team, my fav. to use so far is Exp. Jessy Quick with Armor pearcing. You got yourself a flier right there that pack a wahlope and cheaper than KF and Flash.
I rather use Vet Nightwing with Stunning blow. Much better than R Nightwing.
And check out this one......LE Roy Harper with Laz. Pit. Very cool. Put Roy out there to fight first and if he died he gain willpower and other neat tricks. Ofcourse he loose TA and running shot but it well worth it.
I never said it was an excuse. It's a joke in bad taste. Sorry if it offends you.
And i never said she could cut herself with an arrow. What I said is she is taking a job that involves her getting hurt and bleeding on a regular basis.
I'm sure thier are lots of HIV poistive people that want to be boxers and cops and body guards and soccer players etc etc, but does that mean it's a good didea for them to do that? I would say she's being SELFISH. If she wants to help people there are BETTER ways for people in her condition to it. Ways that don't increase her chances of accidently infecting others.
It sucks that she would have to limit herself but she can't just think of herself. Not with a disease like that.
But then again her condition isn't going to be shown realisticly anyways, so then again whats it even matter?

It isn't Johns who is doing the bad writing under discussion, so it's not her Titans appearances the complaint was specifically about.
There have been far more issues of Green Arrow with Mia & the whole HIV thing, and that's where the bad Winnick writing is.
See the post above this for why an HIV positive hero isn't the greatest idea

Roy has been cut by his own arrows on mulitple occassions. Heck, just in this particular arc we've seen Ollie bleeding all over the place from arrows.
And trust me, it's not that difficult to nick yourself on your own broadheads, especially with the type of quiver she uses
