Batgirl was getting impatient. Her father was somewhere inside the bank, possibly wounded -- or worse -- and he she was, surrounded by two-bit lackeys and gang bosses. She and Batman were being stalled; that much was clear, but what was the reason? Who was orchestrating the assault? She lashed out at Stogie Joe. Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her hamstring. Batman would certainly admonish her later for allowing her emotions to take over....

Catwoman perceived the freedom to move again and exploited it. She leapt off in pursuit of Cheshire and caught up to the Asian fighter easily. "Little girl, we were not finished," Catwoman said, and hissed.

Batman dodged a bullet but was then confronted by one of Stogie Joe's lackeys. The desperate man flailed at the Dark Knight, clearly dreading incarceration yet again. "Let me outta here, you freak!" the man cried. Batman silently fell to his hands and knees, spun and delivered an expert leg sweep. His legs taken out, the lackey tumbled onto his head with a cry, and tried to get back to his feet quickly.

Commissioner Gordon yelled to his men, "You, Sweeney! Fall back! There's nothing more you can do up there. Fitzgerald! Cover him!" One of the Gotham police officers retreated from the confrontation with the powerful assailant. Gordon then turned to O'Meara and said, "If that guy breaks through, you're going to have to hold him." O'Meara nodded grimly through his SWAT team mask. The aging man then backed down the hallway.

Gordon cam around the corner to see the Scarecrow pinned down. >BANG< Another shot rang out from one of Gotham's finest. The bullet caught Scarecrow in his arm, and the villain recoiled in pain, dropping to one knee.

Batgirl tried to calm down and focus on the task at hand. She was injured but she'd been through tougher scraps than this. She formed her right hand into an eagle claw and struck the nerve centers under Stogie Joe's chubby arm. >POW< She hit home, and the gang leader's arm fell limp. His cigar finally dropped out of his numbed hand. "You little brat! That hurt! And that was a $40 cigar!" yelled the portly man.

Catwoman felt the sting of Cheshire's attack but used the Asian woman's own momentum against her. Selina grabbed Cheshire's arm, shifted her weight and threw her into the wall behind her. Cheshire collapsed unconscious. Catwoman spun back to the other criminals and hissed in defiance.

Batman stayed focused on the injured man right in front of him. As the lackey struggled to get back to his feet after Batman's leg sweep, the Dark Knight struck a right jab to his temple that knocked the man out.

Commissioner Gordon had completely recovered his composure. He directed his men with a calm tone, and he registered with some satisfaction that they had Scarecrow on the run. "Sweeney, don't let Scarecrow slip away. O'Meara, stay where you are." Then Gordon strode down the hall toward the bank lobby, stepping over debris from the explosion.

Batman was moved to pause. He was recovering from his knock-ut punch to the lackey when he saw Stogie Joe land a sucker punch to Batgirl that sent her flying across the room. When her limp form remained lying on the cold marble floor, the Dark Knight had to consider his options quickly...

Aw, man, i was really hoping for Batgirl to get a couple more KOs and be ready to go for the next issue...

Promethues attacked the policeman that stood in his way, if he couldn't get gordon before batman got to him he'd make sure to take down as many cops as he could.

Elsewhere catwoman was hit hard by a pulse beam from the battlesuit and then was caught in the shoulder with a bullet from one of the escaping criminals.

"That's it... keep on the pressure boys" The gangleader said as he eyed the exit waiting for the best chance to bolt.

Big rolls so if the patern sticks, big rolls for you are up. Kinda confused about the next issue comment though, only had this written as a 2 part accelerated mini-series.

Gordon knew that time was on his side, presuming Harvey wasn't injured too badly. Reinforcements were surely on the way. He turned his head back and forth to make sure his men had the hallway covered. He signalled to his officers ahead to be patient with the Scarecrow.

Batman heard and saw Catwoman get hit and reacted quickly. He threw a batarang at the man in the battlesuit that managed to do some damage. He watched Catwoman leap around the room holding one of her injured arms. "Don't want to corner an injured cat," Batman thought to himself.

Catwoman landed right in front of Stogie Joe and she hissed, "Call off your lackeys, Joe, or my next scratch will do more to you than satisfy an itch!"

Batman had to capture the Battlesuit operator and learn more about his employer, even though he might be able to provide information as good as that from Lady Shiva or Cheshire. With an expert batarang toss, he knocked the helmet right off, and the battlesuit collapsed like an old suit of armor.

Gordon watched as his men executed an assault like at the academy: one man moved into position, while the other officer -- who had just been injured -- took down the Scarecrow.

I was trying to get out of the way so the two crooks with guns could shoot at her.

Catwoman practically meowed with glee as Stogie Joe tried to flee. The portly man's attempts to wrest himself from her proximity were downright entertaining to the feline adventurer. She gave the fat man a blow to the head, and he fell, knocked out.

Batman took a breath and was hardly even attempting to take evasive action when one of the criminals took another potshot at him. The Dark Knight quickly stooped to recover one of his batarangs, then slowly lifted his head to stare down the two remaining gang members. "Give up, now. Joe's down; you could save yourselves a lot of pain." His low voice filled the two remaining lackeys with dread, and they paused.

Commissioner Gordon heard more shots coming from around the corner. Apparently, their mysterious assailant was still causing his officers trouble. He thought about heading over that way to make sure they had the situation under control, but.....
