Well, you have to give them a little bit to flush out what happened in that past year. Don't expect all the mystery to be told in a matter of an issue or two. I really don't think we'll find out everything of what happened in that year time gap till atleast six months from now.
Really enjoying: Batman/Detective*, Firestorm, Manhunter, Aquaman*, Teen Titans*
So-so on: Supergirl and the Legion
Didn't care for: JSA, Hawkgirl*
The asterisk is for books I was not reading before OYL. Aquaman, in particular, is a book I never would have picked up otherwise.
It's possible the Batman/Detective storyline didn't necessarily need to be a OYL book. Bringing in James Robinson and bringing back Jim Gordon is a pretty darn good hook.
Matter-Eater Lad Snack List: Time Gem, Remaker
Etrigan Prime Transformation List: Blackhawk Pilot, Per Degaton, Rip Hunter
OR Green Goblin #1, Or Hawkeye (I still think he aint' really dead) and then there is Uncle Ben (he's been seen, and rumour has it, HoM had something to do with it)
and many a villan seen in the NA "Breakout" storyline and many villans seen in an old issue of Quasar when he was on the Stranger's planet.
Not that DC hasn't done anything like that (just look at the Hal Jordan rebirth) or even Superman's.
Actually, that had NOTHING to do with the death of superboy. Dan Dido already stated that it's just chance that both news pieces happen to happen at the same time. You do realize that DC wasn't assuming they were going to lose nor would they have just dropped it completely. If they did lose ultimately then they would have simply striked another deal. Get your facts straight first befoe assuming something.
Umm, but you yourself are making assumptions right in that post.
OYL gave me the perfect opportunity to stop picking things up monthly and swithch all my DC to trade (if I want/hear good things - the only good I've heard has been for Batman). 52 and Johan Hex are looking to be the last monthly DC books (miniseries not included) I pick up for a while.
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.
I'm really, really enjoying Batman and Detective now. I was still buying this book before the whole OYL stuff, but I didn't know why. The stories were decent, but nothing stellar. Now, I remember why I was buying this book, and this gets back to everything that was enjoyable about Batman.
Catwoman has also stepped things up a notch. That title had fallen off drastically after Brubaker left, and had a long stretch of really bad stories. It had started to get back on track with a new creative team that came on a few months ago, but OYL has really changed all of the characters on a fundamental basis by drastically changing their circumstances and allowing you to see them in an entirely new light.
Robin has always been a good read, but Tim has never been anything more than a kid to me. Now, he's something else. He's being allowed to showcase the talents that'd gotten him the job in the first place. And, that's a good thing. We're dropped right into the middle of a mystery that has Robin as the main suspect for murder. So far, the story has been excellent.
'Up, up, and away' in Superman and Action? It's been a long time since I've read a Superman story that's had me as intrigued as this one does. A long time. A really long time.
Teen Titans and Outsiders have both improved.
I'm still ambivalent about Supergirl and the Legion, but mostly because I didn't like the way the Legion were written in the story. I didn't like the arrogance.
JSA has been decent. I'm not sold on the story, but that's mostly because I've never been a huge fan of the Gentleman Ghost, and the art doesn't particularly appeal to me.
Didn't care for: JSA

Ummm there is no Flash comic, much less a OYL Flash comic atm. Hawkman was changed to Hawkgirl.
Right, but the limited previews we've seen for the new Flash don't look that appealing. We've done the "Flash comes back" thing a few times. Heck we've even done "Flash comes back but it's not him, who could it be?" story as well. I'm just not seeing a compelling reason to jump on this ship.
I also know Hawkman has changed titles and will focus on Kendra, which in and of itself would be welcome, but the story and art just didn't do it for me. I miss the silver age Hawks. And while I like Carter and Kendra in JSA, I'm not happy with their solo/duo outings so far.
Colossus was a given. But Bucky? he was dead, and Marvel allowed Brubaker to ret-con his death-an integral part to Cap's history.
Not syaing that Jason's return was any better (after all I voted for the whiny bastard to take a dirt nap back in the dya).
But I just can't see claiming that one return was more ridiculous than other returns.
Typically, I feel that once a character is dead they should stay dead, but I was mainly referring to the manner in which they were brought back in the books. Colossus and Bucky were written as never having been dead to begin with. Jason's resurrection due to Superboy Prime throwing a temper tantrum and accidently opening the door between life and death? Ok, whatever....... Psylocke I'll agree with you on though.
Colossus and Bucky were written as never having been dead to begin with.
Colossus was technically dead. His body was stolen and he was brought back to life by Ord (who had access to some hightech alien stuff) and experimented on as punishment for his part in the Legacy cure.
