Sooo...judging by R Nighthawk, Sinister Syndicate is now covering Squadron Sinister as well?!?
Guess we'll know for sure when R Speed Demon/Whizzer is previewed. I thought that was odd when i first heard of it but, looking at what they did with Doom Patrol, it makes since. As it happens, I always thought Champions should have gotten Defenders team. I'm glad to see some flexibility on team designations.

I really like the Vet because we need more Defenders. I don't understand why the Rookie doesn't fly though. I like the stepladder and can't wait to see ways to use it.

I'm not an expert on Nighthawk at all, but I don't remember him always flying. I thought he could just glide (like Jessica Drew), so I was surprised he didn't have any L/C. Regardless, for the money, he is a good piece for all 3 versions.
As far as Beetle/Mach goes, I think it is split 50/50. The Beetles are decent figures and I think they will see some play (especially for the TA). Mach doesn't excite me in any of his versions. The Vet at 100 pts is easily trumped by Exp War Machine for 9 extra pts. Thematically, its nice to have the pieces, but I don't think I will be playing them that much.
It also reminds me that Moonstone/Meteorite got seperate names and an LE, Abe gets 2 full sets and an LE and Whizkids just seems to have forgotten about poor Screaming Mimi. It's not too late. Make her an LE for prize support and give her the Masters of Evil TA. Come on. Toughness, starting pulsewave, followed up by some SS or CCE for her wrestling moves. I would even let them use Songbird's figure. I just want the different power set.
Every relationship is fundamentally a power struggle, and the individual in power is whoever likes the other person less.

The rookie Nighthawk shouldn't fly. He didn't start using a jetpack in the wings until later.
I'd also argue against super strength. His strength did increase at night, but even then I wouldn't have figured it qualified as Super Strength, but just maybe some extra damage and clicks of Toughness.
A Kyle Richmond LE with some Probability Control would be perfectly appropriate. Also probably another non-flyer, as I don't recall him ever flying in that Nighthawk mini-series.
I was really psyched to see Nighthawk in the lineup, being an old school Defenders fan! Even if I'd nitpick about the dial a little, it's a sincere thrill to get him!
I can see some Inspiring Command possibilities with the vet...
From the figure # of Nighthawk he should have an LE. Kyle Richmond is that his name?
Heyy, I didn't notice that, thanks for pointing out. So, maybe there WILL be a Kyle Richmond LE. I hope! I won't have to type in 14 pts anymore! Besides, it would be a nice way to "finish out" the character, kind of like they did with Moon Knight and the Marc Spektor LE. Even though the Marc Spektor LE isn't all that great.
I know some of you could probably use him with Lockjaw and Shellhead Featcard with Brilliant Tactician and Pounce Featcards, but hey, I'm referring to Stats/ Points on the clix itself.
