F em. They probaly want more money because Siegal and Shuster gave up the rights to Superman and they want a cash cow. They found this loophole and are exploiting it.
And yes I realize its the estate/family of S&S.

if you read this then you lost 10 seconds you'll never get back.
What about all the children that read comics. The ones that love Superboy, and the ones that cried when he died. Won't someone please think of the children?!?!?!
This hippie died for me and while I’m glad it doesn’t mean that I’m going to accept every word that you say, its the installment of shame that makes you a pawn in the game and that’s not my definition of faith.-Balance

I know you're probably joking, but I have thought of that alot lately. What precisely are comics writers doiing for kids nowadays? Well, apart from Power Pack and Teen Titans, GO! anyway?

Ok theres times when estates/families of character creators contribute or detract from the growth of a character/concept. The Siegal estate just wants money, pure greed, this does not benfit anyone but themselves and embroils the comic company in a bothersome buisness of axing a potentially good character or changing their name/appearance to avoid a lawsuit. Granted DC is not in the buisness of making people happy, they want to make money, but if they have to pay out the nose to use a concept then why bother. An example of how an estate has power of its creation was the Daleks. Before the new Doctor Who series came out the writers wanted to use the Daleks, but BBC2 or BBC3 wanted to use the Daleks in a cartoon, and more precise wanted to have a gay Dalek. The Nation estate said HELL Fng NO, maybe not those exact words, but they refused to let BBC use the Daleks in the Doctor Who series. Well obviously the cartoon wasn't used, as the Daleks were a recurring theme in the first two seasons. That's a good example of an Estate flexing its muscles.

Here's one take on that (and not necessarily my own).
Who cares about the kids? I don't have any, and when I started reading comics (10-11) I didn't want "kids" stuff. I want comic companies to make money and kep running, and kids have zero money except from parents and even then they aren't dropping $30 a month on comics, let alone DVDs, collected trades, etc.
Kids get two main things:
1) Action Figures/Toys
2)Movies
I think DC and Marvel realize that the DVD, VHS, and TV markets are the new kid territory.

And even then, it's not a new concept at all. That goes way back to old radio shows and movie serials, like Cap Marvel, Cap America, Superman, then the TV show of Supes in the 50's. Later cartoons and the like. And they sold toys from that and lunch boxes and such. Just with the new forms of media, like DVD and computer games, they've made more, mass produced ####. and the quality is down too.
GL Corps is the best GL book on the market by far. Natu and Guy are awesome together.
