If I remember right the first little bit of it wasn't that bad, it was when they started to see $$ and expanding the story, and making it bigger and longer and the ending got lost and muddled etc... that it become one of the worst comics story lines out there.
Theres only one Return, and it ain't of the King, its of the Jedi.
Now that I think about it maybe the team could be this:
Invisible Woman
Human Torch
Silver Surfer
De-Powered Galactus
Have them go into space to get away from Civil War and help fix the problems caused by the Annihilation Wave, which was Reed's fault because of the prison he built.
In a Fantastic Four Annual a bunch of Sue's and Reed's from different timelines converged for their anniversary and one group said they were filing for a divorce. I don't no if that is in the past or if that could be a hint to Civil War. However the other Sue's said it worked out fine. That issue also gave hints that Ben was somewhat seperate from the 4 so I don't think he will be back on the team anytime soon, if ever (unfortunately).
There was a (so-called) funny "What If", one page thing a few years back entitled "What if Wolverine really was in every comicbook". Best panel was him, in Riverdale, slicing off Reggie's head while all the other's gasped in horror. I liked it.
Where do people get off saying Ben Grimm went to france? I saw him fighting Cap's team when clor killed goliath and he was even watching as Sue and Johnny left.
I think Sue should go ahead and get her own comic (though it will never happen) because the First Family is what holds her back. She has the power to become invisible, cast forcefield and do iceman like slides (also invisible), create mini forcefields in the brain or other body parts of others, and I even saw her fight Klaw in this invisible forcefield transformer like machine that she created. Hell even galactus wanted her as his herald!! C'mon Marvel get a clue!!

It was in a Fantastic Four issue which occurred after CW #4.

Time doesn't exactly work in straight lines in Civil War, but in one of the Fantastic Four issues, there was a fight during a prisoner transfer and in the fight, a kid got killed (on Yancy Street?). So Ben stormed off after the fight saying that he was done with both sides and that he was just going to leave. Then again in the issue where Sue leaves (after the fight with clone Thor), Ben lets Reed know he's leaving. He's definitely left.
Closer to topic, based on the Wizard answers, my guess would be She-Hulk/Hawkeye. Jessica/Luke are unlikely because Jessica is anti-being a superhero and Luke doesn't really make a lot of sense with them. Storm/Black Panther are more likely, but they've got the whole Wakanda thing going right now. She-Hulk has already been a member of the F4 and Hawkeye.... well, he's supposed to be coming back at least.
Sue is leading, Pym fills Reed's slot but I am not sure how long Luke can hold the fort in Thing's slot. He did it before but did not last very long.
Hulk should be there instead of Cage. Marvel has the perfect chance with Hulk returning to Earth in his comic. Too bad there is no way Marvel would think of that or have anyone make it happen on a schedule.

That sounds SOOOOOOOOOOO dirty.
Don't forget, he may not stretch like Reed, but Pym can grow bigger.
Oh, and Scott Lang did it before him.
As for Luke and Thing... Hey, now, Luke's a married man now. Must be Ben's blue-eyes.
My God, the FF break up all the time and then the core group ALWAYS ends up back together again. It's been this way since the 70's.
That is why this scenario is BEYOND TIRED.
If Marvel is going to do this yet AGAIN-they should just give the Thing Marvel 2 In 1 again and let something drastic happen to Reed to create drama for the FF.
If Marvel needs new characters in the group-they have Franklin to work with.
You know, I could ACTUALLY see the Silver Surfer/Galactus thing working given what's happened in Annihilation. Sue and Johnny decide to get off Earth for a while given what's going on and what with Galactus' "status" in Annihilation he probably won't be up to full power anytime too soon. Add in the fact that Johnny was a herald briefly not too long ago and a few heralds (Red Shift and Stardust) didn't exactly fare too well in the fight against the Annihilation wave and Sue and Johnny might feel guilty for what Reed's doing with the Negative Zone (which is possibly part of the reason why Annihilus is so pissed in the first place) and it's actually feasible.
They do that for a year or so and then after the damage from Annihilation is under control they send Sue and Johnny back to Earth, they hook up with Ben, and hopefully by then Reed's come back to his senses.
