my guess is spidey's back in black because of the movie. marvel wants to cash in on spider-man 3. its why sandman's on every other cover. and peter sure would kill kingpin. why? why not. if it sells comics. civil war has taught me one thing. characters don't have to act like themselves, especially if it stands in the way of the story.
1)Yeah Marvel is putting him the Black Costume because of the movie. Who cares? If it makes sense, it's ok with me. And I love the costume, so I'm happy with it.
2)Can you tell me just 5 characters that were out of character in Civil War, and why? Thanks...
I was really hoping he would have the symbiote, instead of just putting on a black costume. I'm considerably under-whelmed. It would have been awesome to see Peter deal with being uber-powerful again.

That would be cool, but it wouldn't make sense(Even for Marvel!) because Peter knows how evil the Symbiote is........You know?
Though Eddie is coming back, so the Symbiote will be on the right person.
I really don't care for the reason, I love this costume.
Also, I have a strong feeling that people might start thinking that Peter is not Spiderman.
The black is too well known now, not like it was way back when... which in Marvel time, has only been a few years.

You dare forget Mr Hyde ? He'll go on and on telling you he took on Thor and the Hulk and this guy and that... never mentions that each time, he got his butt handed to him.
He was last seen in Young Avengers pushing mutant growth hormone. It fits him well to be dealing that stuff, he is, afterall, a scientist who created an alter-ego thru chemical living.
Spidey was willing to spare Norman Osborne's life even after the Gwen incident and he doesn't hate the Kingpin anywhere near as much as he hates Norman.
Pete and Norman talked about that in the TPB "Return Of The Goblin". Pete said he doesnt' hate Norman.
I'm guessing that was who was on the cover of the recent issue, where Spidey is crying whilst holding a dead body, which was kept covered on the cover of the issue.
It's just a guess
Peter also didn't kill the guy who shot Uncle Ben; I just don't see him going and breaking Kingpin's spine or anything....though I could see Punisher or Moon Knight doing it -for- Peter being they know he won't do it.

If they are putting him Back in Black as a film tie in, then the Guy who
he thought shot Uncle Ben in film 1 did wind up dead by the end of the
confrontation though.
Maybe this'll happen to the shooter and there won't be a link back to the Kingpin.
Some nice stuff. Peter looks pretty angry too. And throwing a jeep? It looks like JMS has decided to actually write some cool Spider-Man stuff and now it looks like he'll be leaving in a few months. Talk about being a tease.

He has killed in Spider-Man vs Wolverine, though it was by accident. He deeply regretted it, but didn't fall to pieces over it in some kind of angst-ridden type fit. Still he didn't kill Wolverine when he had the chance to after beating him into the ground, even though his healing factor would have brought that butt-weasel back anyway. Yet again he may have accidentally killed another lady when he tried to "rescue" Gwen Stacy too. While I don't think he would purposely kill 99.9% of the time I do think that someone like the Kingpin is capable of pushing him pretty close, if not just a little too far. What happens if the Kingpin continues his vendetta on Spider-Man's few remaining friends. What if he continues to threaten MJ?Spider-Man has been around many deaths now and has some new found problems with recent laws like registration. After-all once upon a time he wore a sinister mask that made him an outcast of sorts.
In any event I hope that his new suit series will deliver better writing. Unlike the drek they have been putting out during his Civil War saga.
