Now we see how you taste Earth-creature.> Wharata lashes Night Thrasher as he lies before it, struggling to stand after being sprayed by the creatures defensive ink jet. 7 AV vs 17 DV (15 + 2 combat reflexes), needs a 10. Roll is (2, 3), misses. Despite being covered in the sticky ink, Night Thrasher easily dodges the aliens clumsy attempts to bring its feelers to bear.
2) "<The flying human is cowardly. Hmmmph. I eat the bright one instead.> Arg-Tro scuttles over the park to J-18, rearing up behind the blinding form of Dagger. It takes 1 click from the push.
Flushed with power, KKKSsaaa wipes the ichor trailing away from the corner of its maw with one elongated insectoid limb (clears).

1) "You going to be alright back there babe?" Nova calls back over his shoulder at Dagger who merely nods. Standing tall before the towering monstrosity she raises a brightly shining hand. "Stand down creature, I do not wish to harm you!" She calls out as the light flares to an even brighter intensity. Dagger punches Arg-Tro. 9 atk. vs 15 def. Needs a 6. Roll is: (4,3) for a 7 and a hit! Arg-Tro takes 1 after toughness.
The blinding light flows from Dagger's outstretched hand, overwhelming the sensitive optical stalks of the crustecean-like creature, causing it to retreat back into it's shell, for the moment, with an angry hiss.
2) "I'm...not...down...yet!" Vance manages to cry out through gritted teeth, the pain of his wounds almost making him pass out. Forcing his worn body to act, he focuses all of his remaining power into a desperate hail-mary attempt, Vance graps hold of the Axe with his telekinesis while simultanously blasting back the gloating creature! Marvel Boy forceblasts KKKSsaaa. Roll is: 4. KKKSsaaa is knocked back to G11 and drops the Axe of Terrax in G15!
His desperate gambit works as the stunned insectoid is hurled across the park, the glowing and bloddy axe torn from his chitenous claws! The creature emits a shrill scream of outrage as it feels the Cosmic Power slip from it's grasp and Vance drops to his knees, once again diverting all of his efforts into staunching the floow of blood from his wound.

1) "<Ahhcckkk! You dare separate me from the axe? You will pay for this!> KKKSsaaa buzzes over the bushes and comes at Marvel Boy from the north, snatching up the precious Axe of Terrax as he goes (F-16).
Arg-Tro and Wharata suck in deep breathes of the alien atmosphere, preparing to renew battle with their enemies.

1) "BACK OFF BUG!" Nova shouts as he barrels into the insectoid beast at top speed. Nova charges to G15 and slams into KKKSsaaa. 9 atk. vs 13 def. Needs a 4. Roll is: (4,5) for a 9 and a hit! KKKSsaaa takes 2.
Unable to react in time to the rocket-speed blitz KKKSsaaa clicks with pain and hatred under the force of the impact that throws off his murderous axe-blow against the badly wounded Marvel Boy.
2) "Thanks Nova, I needed that!" Vance manages to gasp, pushing the pain aside for one final blow against the deadly creature before it can recover to bring the axe to bear on Nova. Marvel Boy punches KKKSsaaa. 7 atk. vs 12 def. Needs a 5. Roll is: (6,6) for a critical hit! (Oookay, that was redundant...) KKKSsaaa takes 2, is knocked back to D16 and is KO'ed. The Axe of Terrax drops in F16 and Vance takes 1 from the push.
His eyes blazing with power Vance brings a mighty hammer of a TK-punch down on top of the stunned creature, crushing it into the grass like an ant under a boot-heel. Legs broken and carapace cracked the creature reaches lamely for the Cosmic Axe but finds it just out of reach of it's unresponding limbs.
"DAMN Super-tights, I didn't know you had that in you!" Nova grins, obviously impressed with the display of force. "Super-tights? Marvel Boy? You okay there buddy?" Nova turns to see his team-mate pale-faced and badly bleeding falling to the ground, almost exhausted past his breaking point. "I'm...fi...ne..." he gasps, trying to staunch the flow of blood again. "Just...need....to...re...st..." Nova kneels down and gently helps Vance back up in a sitting position, "You just take the time you need, I'll handle it from here!" Nova smiles, grinning widely as his eyes fall on the glowing Axe sticking out of the ground not a foot's distance from him...
Dagger braces herself for the inevitable attack of her monstrous foe and Night Thrasher wipes the rest of the alien ink away from his helmet.

1) "<Now you die Bright One!> Arg-Tro reaches for Dagger with his mighty crab-like claws. 9 AV vs 15 DV, needs a 6. Roll is (2, 2), misses. Daggers aura of light is just too bright, and the aliens concentration faulters.
2) Now I have you, Tasty One! Wharata again tries to lash Night Thrasher with its feelers. 7 AV vs 17 DV (15 + 2 combat reflexes), needs a 10. Roll is (6, 3), still misses. Night Thrasher just wont stay still long enough for the alien to get a bead on.

Vance just doesn't know his own strength sometimes
New Warriors Turn 9:
1) "Your struggle against the Light is pointless. You cannot win. Let my light into your heart and soul and let it soothe your pain. It will only hurt if you keep resisting!" Dagger pleads with her attacker, raising another shining fist. Dagger punches Arg-Tro. 9 atk. vs 14 def. Needs a 5. Roll is: (1,2) for a 3 and a miss!
Given due warning, the creature manages to draw its' eyestalks into its' shell, shielding them from the burning light of rightousness.
2) "You're going to pay for your crimes, and all the ink in the world won't stop me!" Dwayne snarls, ducking and weaving under the feelers of Wharata before launching a series of painful blows against her abdomen. Night Thrasher punches Wharata. Danger Girl roll is: 4. 8 atk. vs 14 def. Needs a 6. Roll is: (1,4) for a 5 and a miss!
The strange creature merely shifts its' soft and maleable body out of harms way, leaving Night Thrasher hitting nothing but air with his vicious strikes.
Vance desperately tries to remain concious while Nova stares at the axe, a plan forming in his head...

1) "It's okay... I can.... still...help!" Vance groans, using all of his remaining will to get close enough to Dagger to extend his heavily taxed TK-shield over her. Marvel Boy moves to J16
2) "Alright crab-boy, time for you to come out of your shell!" Nova yells, grasping the Cosmic Axe of Terrax in one hand before rushing towards the monstrous creature at full speed. Nova picks up the Axe before charging to K17, swinging his new weapon at Arg-Tro. 9 atk. vs 14 def. Needs a 5. Roll is: (2,6) for an 8 and a hit! Blades roll for the Axe is: 5! Arg-Tro takes 4 after toughness!
Rushing in at near super-sonic speed Nova brings down the deadly axe in a mighty overhead arc and cuts straight through the shell of alien beast! The creature screams in agony and suprise as the axe cleaves it's carapace like a hot knife through butter leaving it's soft flesh vulnerable and exposed!
Even Nova pauses for a moment, stunned by the effect. "DAMN! I knew I was good, but THAT good?"

1) "You just don't take a hint, do you?" Nova shouts as he raises the axe again. "I said STAY DOWN!" Nova brings down the Axe yet again. 9 atk. vs 14 def. Needs a 5. Roll is: (1,6) for a 7 and a hit. Blades roll for the Axe is: 6! (OUCH!) Poor Arg-Tro takes 6 and is nearly chopped completely in half! Nova takes 1 from the push.
The soft and squishy flesh of the crustecean creature offers even less protection than it's shell did against the unstopable Axe. Driven by Nova's considerable strength the blade chops through claws and legs like rotten driftwood dropping the alien with one fell swoop that leaves it twitching and squirming on the ground in a pool of ichor! Nova groans under the feedback of the Cosmic weapon and doesn't even notice how the weapon eagerly absorbs both the blood and energy it has spilled so far.
2) "Hold on Night Thrasher, aid is coming!" Dagger shouts as she sprints across the park hurling several light-knives towards Dwayne's foe. Dagger makes a running shot to M16 aiming for Wharata. Danger Girl roll is: 3. 9 atk. vs 14 def. Needs a 5. Roll is: (4,6) for a 10 and a hit. Wharata takes 2
The alien screams and withdraws temporarily from Thrasher trying in vain to shield it's optical sensors from the burning brightness of the Child of Light!

1) "Enough playing around, this ends here!" Night Thrasher grabs a gas-grenade from his belt and stuffs it directly into Wharata's open maw! Night Thrasher goes for the capture. Danger Girl roll is: 5, close but not enough. 8 atk. vs 12 (+4 from capture) def. Needs an 8 to capture and a 4 to KO. Roll is: (3,1) for a 4 and just barely a hit! Wharata takes 1 and is KO'ed!
Dwayne ignores the searing pain from the digestive juices of the creature as they eat their way through his armour, jamming the grenade deep into the alien monster's throat. With a dull thud it detonates, dropping the alien like a pole-axed oxe!
'Thrasher pulls back his arm, wipes off the alien goo and looks back over his shoulder at his team, focusing his gaze at the throbbing blood and ichor soaked Cosmic Artifact held slung casually over Nova's back...
