Not going to lie, Green Scar is a beast. And if you pull with TK [talking First Class Jean here] *shudder*
That said, he went out with little more than a whimper and a whine when I face him. Gratned, I was facing team "eat our ranged damage" with Psy Blast, RCE, Outwit, and good values, but the long and short of it is that Green Scar got in one attack [trying to get rid of the Outwit...which is a great strategic move, except that Seth designed Bishop so he went right past RCE and back to Outwit], missed his follow up [50/50 odds on that attack, and while it would have axed Bishop, it wouldn't have helped much since OW wasn't needed the next turn]. And down he tumbles.
Now, having 'that said' been said, I'd say he's still solidly worth his four smiles...my opponent really got nerfed by one thing: Bishop gets Outwit back after losing it. Name another figure in the set that does that? I'll give you a hint, it's a SMALL list, and the other ones are hard to come by:
Zombie Giant Man [same setup as Bishop], and then three rares you have to KO to get rid of their Outwit: Leader, Danger, and Arcade. The two super-rares that are trouble are Mastermind [who you should be able to axe with your moving about] and Apocalypse. K, seriously, who ISN'T going to have trouble with Apoc? Yeah, Hulk earns his four stars for being able to handily handle most threats in the set, particularly with a good support figure [or even two if you're lucky, plus pogs] to back him.
Great reviews!
Arguendo of the Beige Lanterns (Pedantry Corps)
Feb 2015: JL Trinity War has have given us the CSA, playable and together. Twice. ROCK ON!
REClixed: Justice for Dmitri Pushkin (your sacrifice will not be forgotten)! New generic Rocket Red @50-75 points while we're at it? Still no 19DV Defender? (WoS Groot doesn't count)
Power Girl AND Bust.
yeah wrecker isn't green scar, but he's not suppose to be.i actually like his super power. if you play great arena, and he gets hit with dbls, you'll probably knock him onto his sp. being able to hit somone for 4 before the end of their turn is awesome!! yeah he'll get beat easy by a swarm team, but who wouldn't.
as it's been stated before, there's alot of 2 damage in this set. most figs won't be able to hurt him. i just think that if it's sealed, stay away, but in constructed, i can think of a couple ppl to field with him. the rares rock by the way. fabian is AWESOME!!! ahab is my new best friend..team him with pete wisdom and black tom and let the good times roll. the leader is really a nice fig, his powers rock and he can help your team out alot.
@antonio.clark.art is my instagram.take a look and tell me what you think....be blessed!!!
I played with Zombie Wolverine at the pre-elease and got beat by a Maestro with an object in one shot. It would have been nice to have a Wrecker and all that damage reduction.
Black Tom is a must play at only 55 points. His move is enough to get him to the edge of hindering on the new map and he has most of the area covered from there. Stealth/outwit with 245 pts of backup means he will be well protected. He did a lot of damage for my team with his outwit and 8 range too. I could not have gone 6-0 without him, period.
Green Scar; nice but there is wayyy too much outwit in this set. I shut him down hard in the pre-release. Of course, I had two outwits so I could take out is move and defense power.
I don't know if Unus really deserves 2 stars. When I used him in my pre-release, he was actually really useful. I was 'dumb' enough to use him mainly for TK. Becuase my team was just Unus and Maestro, I would TK Maestro. Then slowly move Unus out into combat, pushing him to tie up other figures from making range attacks to Maestro. It worked really well, and Unus was pretty good. Depending on how you play him, because Unus is so defensively strong, I think he's more useful than most people give him credit for.
I run HeroClix tournaments at Shuffle and Cut in La Habra, California. The format of each tournament will be posted here.
I think Danger's SP is just amazing. As you said, it nerfs CCE, RCE, ES/D, and a whole bunch of other powers. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it also nerf Hindering Terrain?

By that explanation, as long as the character isn't stealthed, they can't even get a hindering terrain bonus, I would think. It's modifying the target's defense, after all. That's just awesome.
You know AZ, if you're worried that Unus' other special power makes him unsuitable as a tie-up piece, how about just NOT using it when you attack with him?

From the ashes of Paragon City... it rises!
Umm..... With so little hypersonic speed in the set, why wouldn't the Wrecker be good? If you pull some #### plus him he would be good to play. These reviews are always good. But whenever I come across someone who reads them and thinks that they are Bible, they usually end up with a whoopin'.
Yes I will be playing the Wrecker and his 9 clicks of invulnerability or better. When is that ever bad?
Do so at your own risk, my friend. I would have alot of fun playing you in a 300 point game where 3/4 of your force is a 0 range brick! Even with TK, the guy starts with a really low movement with charge. And how come his damage value averages out lower than Strong Guy's?! Karnak and a mandroid coud tear him up all day. Just pray there are no snipers on your opponents team; they'll pick him apart from a mile away. I am so let down by Seth on this one...
#037 E Jean Grey
And then there is Outwit too, though a slightly hobbled version of the power. (Why a regular black square wouldn’t suffice is beyond me though.)
Outwit in particular is very useful. But for 90 points she’s a bit steep on the cost too.
Jean Grey -
Um, you sort of answer your own question there. Special powers that hobble standard powers should cost less than the standard power normally does. I say should, and I accept that on occasions this won't hold true. But still, it should.
We need Sand. And Sandman. And even Sandy the Golden Boy.
For Unus, I'd probably still give him more credit. TK is huge, and ignoring him is easier said than done. You won't be able to go after the rest of my team if I use him wisely and base your figures with him. Then you have to deal with him or try and break.
Why the dwelling on double base figures supposedly having little impact on the game? I keep seeing posts from you about it, but they still have uses. If there's a two square passageway, they can block the whole entrance. And in Devil Dinosaur's case, it gives them more surface area if they want to try and pull off Terrify.
Those are just my nitpicks.
Gulyadkin Victims List: Spider-Man (ASM 001b), Green Goblin (M10A 004).
Black Panther R (IC) Mjolnir Attempts: 2 for 2! HE IS WORTHY!
NO NOT THE WRECKER!!! He sucks. BAD. I played him once. For jokes of course in the pre-release. Needless to say, I got beat. BAD. Why would you make a figure that bad? WHY!?! It pains me to see him. I wince in sheer PAIN when I see his horrible crowbar and 230 point value. I really think that anyone who plays him deserves fellowship.
I am so frustrated with the MOE. Other than Kang and maybe the old Blizzard and Baron Zemo must of them are over priced pieces of carp. Is there some formula that says if it has MOE over price it by at least 70 points? Just try fielding decent MOE team

The new Absorbing Man is pretty good too.

Oddly enough, the Avengers Baron Zemo would've been a perfect candidate for MoE...and was given the Avengers TA instead....
