Q: What happens if my opponent uses Possession on my last character?
A: As per the rulebook (page 45), if one of the players has no more characters left on the battlefield, the game ends. With the game over, each player would calculate the victory points they have earned and the winner would be determined accordingly
Both sides already agree on this. Now the killer part comes:
Quote
Q: If the game ends and the character is possessed, who gets the points for the possessed character?
A: The player who brought the character originally. Once the game ends, all powers end as well. The character reverts back to friendly to its original force and the owner gets points accordingly
So that makes it clear that possession doesn't defeat the character, so possessing the colossal does mean game over, but not automatic win.
Now I will give a more dramatic example. Let's assume your force is 599 points, and your opponent is running Starro at 600 points in a 600 point game. Let's say you successfully possess Starro with your Jericho, and game is over. While calculating victory points both you and your opponent will add the total numbers for defeated characters, archenemy bonus, surviving characters and eliminated characters. Since both you and your opponent wouldn't have any defeated or eliminated characters, as neither of you would get archenemy bonus, only remaining victory points will be the ones for surviving characters. Since Starro is not defeated at the end of the game, he is counted as surviving, so in the end your opponent will beat you 600 - 599 in victory points and he will win.

You're right on, except there are no more survivor points.
There was a Robocop III you know (so don't be racist)

I like that you quote the latest FAQ without using the latest rules

Never mind, already pointed out that you don't get survivor points.
Ok, after having several pm's answered by nbperp, thank you for your quick responses by the way, which cleared up a lot of confusion, several people are correct that while possession of the opponets last figure does indeed end the game, it is not a victory. Once possession occurs on the last figure, the game ends and then normal victory conditions are followed. Thanks for your time nbperp and for all those I said were wrong, I humbly apologize.

Rep for owning up to have made a mistake.
We all do it from time to time

It's ok, we all make mistakes. Very impressede with your admitting your mistake, BTW.
This was a good thread to read, but left me with a somewhat icky taste in my mouth.
When I first read possession, I thought, "What an absolutely worthless power." Then, I came to the same conclusion that the originator of this thread made. "Maybe," I thought, "Maybe WK created characters like this as a trump to people using gigunda undefeatable characters like Galactus and Starro! Toss a Deadman on your team and you may just crack that Omnipotent Purple Bully yet!"
The reality is disappointing. I'd like the issue to be addressed and changed. If I play a 600 point game with enough brass to bring Jericho, and enough skill to actually possess Galactus, I deserve to win. Not the player who plunked down a team with as much creativity as it takes to buy a McDonald's franchise.

For the record, I've never thought Possession was anywhere near worthless. I see it as Mind Control that takes zero feedback damage unless you want to hold the target -- and even then it's only a click per turn. If either of the Possession characters had cost under 100 points, they'd be awesome.
But yeah, I otherwise agree with you somewhat. There oughta be some reward in Heroclix for having stones, y'know?
God is smarter than we are....
Visit Heroclixin'! Or check out my trade thread. Molly Hayes' KO list: HoT Ultron, HoT Thor, SI Iron Man, AV Wonder Man, SI Sentry, LE Diana Prince, R IC Ultron, Pretty Boy, CW Kang, IIM Thunderball, TW Catwoman, OP Red Hulk.
if my opponent fields a 1000 pt. Anti-Monitor, and i have a team that totals 999 pts., and at the end of the match there are no KO's, who is the winner of the match?
Ominous 8: Dr. Doom, Mysterio, M.O.D.O.K., Swarm, the Wizard, the Klaw, dire wraiths, Riptide.

A roll-off will decide. No more underbuild, no more survivor points, so the score is tied at nil.

Heh...well, I agree to some degree with you. While, I wouldn't mind seeing the rules changed so that possession would end the game, and score you a win, I just don't think that it should be that way against an army of single (and/or double) based characters. Of course, this is really just my personal belief that in most circumstances, putting a colossal on the board usually means you win because there are very few armies that can deal with a colossal and swarm team equally efficiently. That being said, Possession does give a team that would normally not stand any chance at winning against a colossal, a 50% chance to win in the end.
