Go back further than that - we first learn about them in Alan Moore's "Swamp Thing" run during the American Gothic storyline.
Was this just something that was mentioned in passing? I mean, they were never shown together in Swamp Thing, or did I miss that completely?
Like I said, the only time I recall seeing them together (in the regular universe as opposed to Life During Wartime) was during Ennis's run when he had Constantine's birthday party and she showed up. I was not too fond of this appearance, though.

You must have missed it completely because there's whole sections involved on the two of them discussing their past, their former feelings, Zatara's feelings for John because of that, etc.

I'd rep you twice for this if it was allowed.

Huh, wow. Well, I have been meaning to go back and reread that run of Swamp Thing...guess I have a reason now, lol.

Woah that is something to read for sure. I'm getting on that as soon as I can. Thanks for the heads up.
You know he's so much more like Spiderman than you will ever, ever be.

It's not a -huge- part of the story so don't go read it just for that; it just plays into points such as when Zatara (Zee's dad), well....that would be spoiling something really cool.

It will also get me to finish the Swamp Thing series, I stopped reading after 30 issues or so. Not that it wasn't good, but at the time I was swamped with comics to read so I ventured into modern territory. I suppose I'm glad I left it because I'm always wishing there was more of Constantine I haven't read. As if the all of Hellblazer and his mini's weren't enough.

Do you mean the time when Zatara worked as a Chipendale's dancer ???
