As big as the question of whether Pinata can even secure the capital to produce a set is, the question of whether they can secure deals with the major comic companies is even bigger. Producing Hammer of Thor isn't a test of that - although how well (or poorly) of a job they do could have a lot of bearing on whether or not they secure such a deal in the future.
.
We actually don't know who the purchaser of heroclix is (well, I don't know). But, it's not Pinata Games (although, you are correct in that they will be handling the nitty gritty, sorry if that's what you meant).
Heroclix is a strategy game with comic book characters where you can shoot sheep guns and quip with Spider-man and Deadpool. It is played by some of the nicest, most giving people on the planet. That is why I play Heroclix.
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Marshal Law again.
Anyone want to help?

I was about to give up hope. So I checked to saveheroclix.com to say my own internal good-bye. I hadn't checked for weeks. To my surprise I happen upon wonderful news. Right when I thought Heroclix was out of my life for good. I can't wait for more original content.
Hopefully I will have a job when Heroclix comes back into production, I've been unemployed and have been rather grateful for the break since I'm incomeless. If they do change the rules at all, hopefully it will be a return to LoSH rules while keeping Indomitable, Sharpshooters, and Duos (which were introduced in LoSH, but I needed a third thing.) All the changes in Fantastic Four were bad and bad for you, detracting from character imo.
Didn't we get almost to this stage before with Catalyst...and then Topps decided it wanted to change the terms of the deal? That's why I would hesitate before going all-in on the announcement.
No, it never made it this far with Catalyst. They had made an offer, but nothing ever became of it. I would assume another company outbid them.
Well bust me up, Heroclix lives! Well this is certainly good news, and I'm glad I didn't give up on this (almost sold my whole set a while back!). Good job Pinata!

I think things will remain pretty much unchanged, with the exception on how tournaments are ran. I think they will not be Sanctioned, I think they will become a Venue/Game store event, no reporting, no "Official" judges. I think prize support will be shipped with cases,(if they are smart, this will cut down on shipping costs) if there is any prize support. In Savage MD they just had a huge 60+ player turnout for an event that had a few chase figures as prizes. Gudda and I have talked about this in several podcasts. For next weeks podcast we will definitely talk about tournaments more.
New ClixCast coming next week?!? Woohoo!!!
