MADAME XANADU #11 - Not a bad issue setting up the mystery and how it relates back to Madame X's experiences during the Spanish Inquisition. Although I found the reveal at the end both telegraphed and a bit sensationalistic. Does every immortal woman have to be a lesbian at some stage?
SUPERMAN #688 - Mon-el, meet Tellus. Tellus, Mon-el. Now it's about 1,000 years too early, so this may not turn out well. I'm getting this for the Legion stuff, but it's pretty pretty slow and boring so far.
JSA #27 - Good to see Mr. Bones and Kung again. I think Ordway may have been trying a bit too hard to channel Roy Thomas, but it was still a fun start to the story.

To answer your question. Yes.
After all, when you're immortal, you might get bored of the same old in-and-out (pun intended).
The truth behind the eternally corrupt Vega System is finally revealed. It turns out that the Vega System was where the actual "Big Bang" occured. It is the true center of the universe, not the OA. Larfleeze, the only surviving member of a race of scavengers, accidentally stumbled upon this secret, which was kept hidden within the same ancient ruins he now resides in. Nobody, not even the Controllers, knew where the "Big Bang" actually occured. The Guardians meant to keep it that way because to know how and where the universe started was to know how to undo and destroy it.
Larfleeze had become too powerful for even the The Guardians to subdue (because, like Hal Jordan with Parallax and Kyle and Sodam Yat with Ion, he became the host to the physical manifestation of the Orange Spectrum, one of the raw and powerful energy beings that came out of the "Big Bang", that lingered close to its "source" within the Vega System). Instead of going at it in a war of light that would have lasted centuries (as they were all immortal), the Guardians made a deal with Larfleeze that as long as he does not leave the Vega System, he will be left alone.
In the present, Hal Jordan aided by his supercharged green ring (which was fuelled by his blue ring), manages to wrestle the Orange Lantern from Larfleeze. Greed instantly overpowers Hal's green and blue rings, and he manages to take them both off to consume (using avatars of all the fallen beings that Larfleeze previously had control over).
Meanwhile, I am now on the way to my local comic book store to buy this issue as I made up everything you just read...
Hmm... St Dumas seems to be running late with his usual additions. He must be stuck on some comic trying to figure out it all fits into continuity.
Or he ate a Big Belly Burger and is stuck in the bathroom crying out "Why? Why did I have to order the one with everything on and get the red bull over coffee ice cream dessert?".
Stop saying things about me!
Green Lantern #41

"What do I hope for? I hope for the blue ring."
On Okaara, Hal fights Larfleeze. Agent Orange makes a point about how Hope and Avarice are similar, and that he wants the blue ring. Hal agrees to give it to him in exchange for information: the Guardians pact with the Orange Light. Also, Fatality arrives on the planet, wanting John Stewart.
Some untold time ago, five thieves made a robbery. Among their loot was two distinct objects: a box, said to be worth a star system, and a map. They followed the map to a jungle on Okaara, with the Manhunters and the Guardians hot on their tails. In the process, two of the thieves died. As they came to the point on the map, the remaining thieves found the Orange light and began to fight over it. The Guardians arrived and began to fight the thieves. When one of the Guardians (and another of the thieves) died, they struck a deal: the thieves would get the Orange light (so long as they never used it) AND the Vega system, and the Guardians would get the box they stole. The two thieves agreed and fought it out for who gets to own the Orange light exclusively; Larfleeze won. Also, the box they stole had Parallax inside it.
After the story, Agent Orange cuts off Hal's hand and takes the blue ring.
Good to know about the pact of the Orange light, but this still felt kinda off. Also, Philip Tan's art is starting to not look as good.
Justice Society of America #27
Story: 2/5
Art: 4/5
"And here I am, my generation's biggest screw-up, living their dream, back on the J.S.A. roster."
Hourman gets a vision that something bad is about to happen to his wife. At the same time, Obsidian captures the mansion in a black cloud with Liberty Belle and the three old-timers trapped inside. Hourman, freaking out, demands help breaking in. Unbeknownst to them, Stargirl gets possessed by a ghost and manages to get through to the mansion. The ghost turns out to be Kung, a Japanese supervillain from the 40's whose out for revenge and who I think may have been created for this story. He grabs the old-timers, Hourman and Liberty Belle and teleports away to a vision of the bombing of Hiroshima. Then, the Spectre appears in the mansion to help everyone else save them.
I don't think Ordway really doesn't write these characters well. This story just felt so cliched and dull. At least the artwork looks the same as Eaglesham's.
Teen Titans #71
Story: 3/5
Art: 4/5
"I can spike on adrenaline inhalers and watch the future unfold, yet I still can't see my place in the world. The answer's out there. Somewhere. Here's hoping I find it."
In the aftermath of Deathtrap, Rose considers rejoining the Titans. After a few adventures, she decides she doesn't fit in and leaves. Not much to it. At least there's still hope for her and Kid Devil. Story was kind of a filler, but the artwork's solid. There are some cool character moments and I hope the team and the series goes somewhere good.
