Edit - you might be reading too much into what I'm saying. I'm only talking about an LE that looks just like the named figure. I'm also talking about what I would do if my opponent played it. I'm not trying to change the game for anyone here.
But that's part of the issue.
Let's say there was a feat called "Why So Serious?" instead of "Lazarus Pit" where the cost was 10 for "The Joker" and 20 for everyone else.
Should The Red Hood LE be allowed to use it? It's an LE that looks just like the named figure, so by your reasoning it should qualify. It is not the same character, though.
It is far easier to go with the black and white rules than to try and break this stuff down based on what's in the comics.
Back before WK took its year-long dirtnap, I used to have a private link to the WK rules forum called "HOUSE RULES MAKE YOU WEAK." And although I do like the "highlander restriction for non-generics" house rule my venue used to hold, I still hold to that opinion.
this is how we played too. and we are half on our way with the whole U and LE rule. harpu would you still give this red light. you don't have to read..... oh wait mintue i quess you have to read them to know what a generic is. but it still cuts down on the chesse IMO. well?
I think the issue here is that, if you're willing to make that one tiny exception, then what's keeping you from making just one more? Or ten more? Or maybe a hundred? And if the Carter/Booster exception IS the only one you're willing to make, then what makes those guys so special?
However, da-Craig-o, keep in mind that this is merely a philosophical discussion. Certainly, no one here would deign to tell you how you could or could not play with your heroclix. Well, not me at least.
The general argument I hear in favor of it is that you never would have two Drunky-Mans at the same time.
I didn't notice that before Smudge quoted it.

I wish they made a Wolverine sculpt like this (and given the characters involved in this issue, it'd be a fine team to play - as far as I'm concerned, that is).
Anyway, the tourney environment is a competitive one, and should strictly follow the actual rules.
Comic-accurate houserules (comic-accuracy being in the eye of the beholder, by the way) are fine for casual play (or for scenarios, I guess), but the game wasn't designed to be comic-accurate from the start (if only because of its nature, i.e. collectible).

Well, I'm not trying to change the rules or anything. I'm simply stating that this is not something I would say boo about as a player.
I would never dream of arguing how the rules or FAQ of Heroclix should be changed. What a waste of time.
See LE Esme Cuckoo, for example. She has a trait to say that she counts as a Cuckoo for the powers keying off of being a Cuckoo. (That said, unfortunately the trait specifies the powers rather than saying "She counts as a Cuckoo for purposes of game effects based on being a Cuckoo." If the Cuckoos get remade with new Cuckoo powers, Esme will be out of luck.)
Not if the new powers are also named Hive Mind and/or Coordination.
The only thing that worries me about house rules is how they are notified to the players.
I´m not against house rules, but everybody playing at that place/venue must be VERY WELL informed that thouse are house rules and not valid rules.
And they should also know the correct way rules go.
Why do I think this? Because when some players go from one venue to the other they should not be lost like "in my venue we play this way", they shoudl be able to move from one venue to the other knowing perfectly well the real current rules that we all know (or at least should know).
If everybody is well informed and knows that this is an exception being made at that venue and under the supervision of that judge, then its ok, play as you want and have fun.
But really, this debate makes no sense... lol
