View Poll Results: Do you think we'll see LE cardboard in the future
I know from an inside source that the LE prize support kit for HoT cost retailers $17.99 and you know the company is making profit off that number so it cost them way less than $17.99 to manufacture 18 figures 15 event dials and 25 feat cards.
Ummm... the $17.99 cost for the kit is common knowledge here on the realms. I believe there was a news release put out about it as well.
Don't make me laugh. Since when do companies who utilize and implement cost saving strategies ever pass on the savings to the consumer? The answer is never. Greedy corporations always keep the extra, so even if they save a whole thousand or two on not printing feats, that savings will never be passed onto us, it will just go into their profit margin.
I don't understand how any company Topps or NECA can cry about profit. They need to look at how much they are paying their CEO's if they are having a problem with profit margins.

With that being said you know that a regular booster with 5 figures and 1 feat card which retails for $10.99 probably cost a $1.00 to manufacture. How much more profit can you expect to make. They are paying China-men $.50 an hour to manufacture them, so the labor is a not problem either. Just like most companies and banks the top person or CEO is probably being paid way too much than what he/she is worth and he/she is the sole source of their financial woes.
Someone needs a hug methinks.
And to come out of their bunker as well...

I never agreed with the introduction of battlefield conditions and feats from the start. Heroclix started as a simple game where anyone could pick up a starter set and learn to play fairly easily. With the introduction of feats, battlefield conditions, giants, transporters, special powers and the multiple erattas the game has become much more complicated. Anyone who might take an interest in the game may be less likely to continue with it or even pick it up at all due to the more complex system. I remember multiple times when a kid would walk into my venue and I would hook him up with a starter, show him how to play and a week or two later they would be playing in our tournaments. You just can't do that anymore. Now I know people are going to argue that the cards add another aspect to the game and that is fine for the veteran players, but I am speaking about people new to the game. You don't see as many new players jumping into the game as they did before. Heroclix was created on the basis of it being a simple game mechanic and easy to learn for new players. I highly doubt they will go back and get rid of the cardboard, but I think they need to stop adding new twists to the game.
Prizes for tournaments used to be three limited edition figures. All three were different and there was one for first, second and fellowship. Wizkids then cut it down to two LEs per tournament. Then, it was LE feats, battlefield conditions and event dials. Personally, I would rather have a figure than a piece of cardboard. Regardless of how good the card is I always feel like I didn't really walk away with anything when I won a feat or bfc. The majority of the players I speak with feel the same way.
I see both sides of the print and play argument. I don't agree with it for the fact that I believe it will hurt the tournament scene. Who is going to spend money on a sealed booster event or even want to spend the time playing in a tournament where the prize is a feat or bfc that they can just print out and is just as good? There are people like myself who just enjoy playing the game for the fun of it, but there are many who just want the prizes. As a judge who has run tournaments weekly since Infinity Challenge, I think that venues will see smaller turnouts when the cardboard is the prize. I feel that they should do away with the LE cardboard and event dials entirely and just stick with the figures.
The only way they should continue LE cardboard is if Print & Play doesn't go into effect until after the new released set tourny run is over. For example Hammer of Thor "Blood Oath" would not be allowed in a Print & Play format until after the 15 week HoT run is over.
I think LE prizes should be figures only. Cardboard should be given out as participation. Event dials have never been used in any games that I have seen until I ran an event that used them in every game. Which was a pretty cool tourny. If event dials are continued they should be ruled like a BFC.
Run the tourny's like the old style Marquee Events. It was before I started and from what I heard it was a random prize so you had to show up to play. What do you think the turn out would be like at your venue if that would come to be.
I generally attend tournaments to play the game, rather than win prizes. That said, the cards made lame prizes, even when P&P wasn't an option. Now it's just really sad, but I also don't want them to cut down on the number of supported events, because then I'll have fewer opportunities to play at all.
I'm thinking they probably won't continue printing cards as prizes, though.

Also, Dude, chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature. Asian-American, please.
There was a Robocop III you know (so don't be racist)
I'd love to still have cardboard prizes. Why? Because I like the actual cards, rather than the #### I can print out myself. And I'm not going to buy a new printer just to have nicer printouts - I should not have to do that. Yes, I know the secondary market still exists and I can go that route, but what about newer stuff, like the majority of the HoT feats/BFCs?
Dana, you know as well as I that if it weren't this, it would be something else.
True dat J. I guess heroclix players love to argue as much as the love the game itself!!!

im not sure exactly what p&p is nvr heard of it but i read some of the comments and im pretty sure i know what it is i for 1 was annoyed when HoT had no feats but i vote no cause who wants to win and get a stupid little piece of cardboard not me but when you can use p&p y would they need the cardboard

AMEN! I hated the cards from the get-go. I did use and collect
the cards because it was part of the game, but didn't agree with
it. I try to build teams with out feats if possible. At our venue
we rank players based on success. Level 1 is new, Level 2 are
older, better players. Level 2 players can't use feats and BFC cards
against Level 1 players. You don't know who you'll play, so if you do
build a team with cards and play a LVL 1, can't use 'em. Our group
is about 10 players. Half Lvl 1 and half 2. They ALL love it.
