it' s possible Bruce returns and doesn't assume the mantle for a while). Looking forward to seeing what the overall plan is.
I to would like to see this. Maybe see Bruce come back and question his role in the DC universe maybe take on a more of an Oracle role. Maybe even see him become more like the Bruce of Batman Beyond. Because even though they say he is coming back we don't know in what condition he will be in.
As for Grayson remaining the Batman, I am rather very cool with that. I have been enjoying the latest storys.
I am still on the fence about Damian as Robin. At times I enjoy his recklessness. But knowing his background and his upbringing so far, he is really a very cool character. I am waiting for the time when he finally gets serious and gets on the track to becoming the Batman as seen in Batman issue 666.
And still I am waiting for a new Desaad figure.....where is the Desaad love?

I'm hopeing that it's revealed that Damian is NOT Bruce Wayne's son, but is in fact Jason Todd's. Afterall, in the big reveal of how Jason didn't die, he and Talia hooked-up, and that was supposed to be years ago, so maybe it's possible.
Bruce Wayne Returns
In April

Characters, especially long-running franchises, rarely stay dead in comics so it’s no surprise that Bruce Wayne will be returning as the secret identity of Batman in Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne, a six-issue miniseries launching in April. DC revealed the new series on its blog, and writer Grant Morrison promoted it with an interview with USA Today on Wednesday.
Design sketches by Andy Kubert are included in the DC blog post; Morrison told USA Today that a different artist will pencil each issue, with Chris Sprouse handling art on the first issue and Frazer Irving likely to do the second issue.
According to Morrison in the interview, “the status quo of the Batman universe will be changed forever after this book:’
Personnally I'm looking forward to this so Nightwing can return.
YESSS!!!!!!!!!! You don't know how long I've waited for this. Probably since last January, but who cares??? Now that Wayne's back, I'll start reading Batman again, and yes, DC, I will buy every issue in the mini series. Heck, I might even get a new subsription! We're finally done with that little freak as Robin, and that-- well nevermind, Graysons cool---I guess, but I would've liked Todd better as the new Bats. Anyway, this has absolutely nothing to do with clicks, but I am so happy about it!!!!! Reps for you, Mr. Fan.

No offense, but that's the most digusting thing I've ever heard in my entire life. Wayne is in the peak of physical and mental ability, and is the most dangerous man in the world, not to mention earth's greatest hero. When he returns, I'm sure he will be more deadly then ever, after fighting off dinosaurs and neanderthal freaks!!! (He'll probably be wearing some awesome suit) I would scream if he hung up the cowl. But seriously, he will not. The guy made a vow, to rid the world of the evil that took his parents' lives. And I don't think him sitting around on his butt will help fulfill that vow too much.

I would also love to see that happen, but I know that it won't. I hate the idea of Batman having some brat son. I thinks it's annoying, and I hope the Joker accidentally Damian's head off, and then he and Bruce laugh about it. But if it did happen, dude, Damian's at least 9 years old, and in the grand scheme of things, that would mean Batman was upwards to like 40 years old, and we hope he never gets old and tired, and passes the cowl to some nerd. Anyway, good thought, and Under the Hood was an awesome story!
I've always wondered why people react to Morrison the way they do. I guess that's how you know he's something special is because people absolutely hate everything he does or worships him at the altar. I personally find alot of his work really interesting, with Final Crisis being really the only exception. Im hoping his return is dealt with better than Captain America's. Reborn is looking. . . pretty bad.
H/W list isn't up to date-Trade thread coming soon!
Hasn't Morrison hurt Batman's status quo enough? Hasn't he realized that if he gets too radical, other writers will simply ignore what he was written? Like what he did to Joker?
Yeah, I'd hate that too, but old Joker will probably fall into a Lazarus Pit or somethin, and become his "normal" self again.
I was excited until I saw that Morrison was writing it.
Well who else would be writing it? This is Morrison's story. Morrison is the one who wrote the story in which Bruce Wayne "died," is the same writer who placed Bruce in the past, and is the same writer who planned on how Bruce would return.
Heck, I'd probably skip it if anyone other than Morrison were writing it.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.
Glad I'm not the only one unhappy with Morrison's work on Batman. I've been a Bat-Fan since Adam West wore the cowl, and lately I've been considering dropping Batman and Robin.
Wonder if Denny O'Neal would consider coming back? Or maybe Alan Moore (The Killing Joke is the BEST Batman story EVER imo)

Who else would write it? Maybe someone who isn't half out of his mind like Morrison. Grant was a great writer years ago. His work was always a little strange, but nowhere near as out there as it is now. In my opinion, all of his work in the past few years is horrible and I know I am not alone. Maybe I am in the minority, but I form my own opinions based on the writer's current stories and not by the hype or past works. I loved his work on JLA and consider it to be some of if not the best writing in Justice League history, but I don't overlook the fact that his current stuff is #### because of it. DC has given him too much freedom to do whatever he wants without boundaries and Morrison will keep running with it until someone sets some limits. I like very little if anything at all of what he has done to the Batman family since he came onboard.

Quoted for truth. I, for one, can't stand the man's work. BUT, there are a lot of folks at my friendly local comic shop who love it. I suppose it comes down to taste.
I didn't care for his JLA or his Batman. Honestly, I can't think of anything he's done that I've really enjoyed, let alone thought was mediocre. I picked up Batman and Robin to see what would happen to Nightwing... and then promptly put the book down.
But, really, it just comes back to what you're looking for in a Batman book. Or any book he takes over, really. I'd rather not deal with his particular brand of gritty and wish, honestly wish that they'd given the job of bringing him back to Geoff Johns who not only shakes up a book's mythos, but he does it in such a way that it actually feels respectful and well done. Still, people like Morrison for whatever reason and DC's top brass recognize that.
And I agree on Final Crisis, too. It was unanimously loathed in my little corner of NY. Sort of amusing, really.
Just my two cents, though. Not looking to start a fight.
Earth 2 counterpart of Lethargy_Jones Now with 50% more irony.
Currently hoping for: a very playable Crime Syndicate.

Fine. You don't like his current work. You are certainly welcome to you opinion. I disagree with it, but that isn't the point of this thread.
What I was getting at was that you were hoping that someone would come in and write the ending to a storyline that Morrison masterminded. That would be like me suggesting that Bendis be removed from Siege or Johns from Blackest Night. Whether you like their writing or not, whether you like those stories or not, they are their stories. If editorial, or critics, or sales dictate that the writer be removed after the conclusion of their story, fine, but they ought to be able to finish their own stories instead of having someone else do it.
RIP and the Death of Batman are Morrison's stories. If you were excited about the idea behind Batman living through the ages, then you were excited about Grant Morrison's idea. Even if you think this whole thing has been a mess (I emphatically do not), then I would think you'd be receptive to the idea of a guy cleaning up his own mess - Morrison took Bruce Wayne away and Morrison is bringing him back.

I understand what you are saying, but I am one of the many that thinks that it is a big mess and at this point I have no faith in Morrison to clean it up. If anything, I see him making a bigger mess that someone else will have to clean up. As far as I am concerned, he can finish telling his story and then stay away from anything Batman or even DC for that matter.
Grant Morrison is a horrible writer and everything he has done with the Batman books and Final Crisis was awful. Maybe Didio (also should be fired) finally got it through his thick skull that the only person who understood Final Crisis is the only person who can fix it if that is even possible...
