I'd imagine you are correct because they are based on the movie versions, not the comic... and Alan signed off on the movie rights...
Moore Signed off nothing.
The reason Moore hates the big DC is that he was supposed to have the right to Watchmen revert to him once it was done with its run of publication waaay back when in the 80's .
But then DC decided that they were making waaaaay too much $$ to not keep Watchmen in print thus they lied a screwed Moore.
His anger is more than justified, as his genius look at superheroes in a realistic world has been turned into mass marketing entertainment drivel.
I actually LOVED the movie, but it completely missed the theme of Moores vision and turned the characters into what they weren't supposed to be:
Flat out superheroes the way superheroes have always been.
Rorschach wasn't capable of jumping out tenement buildings a few stories up to get back up in Moores story because hes pushing 50!
Ozymadias destroys Nite-Owl and Rorsach in the original without even breaking a sweat, same the opening scene fight!
None the less I will buy these and love em.
The kid in me that always wanted to see the Watchmen act like more traditional superheroes will be very happy .
But the curmudgeonly side of my brain will have to suck it up!
I may be wrong. I do intend to get this set. But I see this as being Neca's attempt to try and rekindle the indyclix flame. After the initial roar over this set is it really going to be as huge as DC/Marvel? I doubt it.
I know in comics Watchmen are owned by DC, but there not part of the mainstream DC universe along with Superman, Batman, etc. There more an indyclix type set.
There part of there own world, own universe. I dont know who a lot of them are going to be. Besides the characters shown in the movie which I was not impress with, I dont know who else would be in this set.
Theres Rorshak (Reminds me of the Punisher without the hardware)
Silk Spectre ( knock off of Black Canary without the sonic cry)
Owl Man ( Cheap Batman impersonator)
Comedian (again a Punisher type)
Rich dude with HSS (dont remember his name, Zoom/Flash type)
A naked Dr. M ( I see him as a cross between Giant man & Reed Richards) Hopefully hes wearing clothes in this set.
These are the only ones I remember from the movie. As I said I didnt care for it.
But to the set. I understand Neca's trying to expand the game so they can get more people to come and play the game. But how will this affect the ratio & releases of DC & Marvel sets.
There the foundation of heroclix. I just hope they dont try and put out to many or to fast these non DC/Marvel sets. At our venue we have been growing due to HOT and the interest in BN/B&B sets that our coming out. Were already sold out of HOT and the owner is planning to order twice as much B&B as he did with HOT.
They just need to make sure the 2 main cornerstones of the game remain the main components of the games releases.
My biggest surprise is the size of the release. I would have figured a smaller 7-10 figure release would have been enough for Watchman.
You really think they'd risk the likely outrage of trying to sell the figure of a guy with 0 cloths on as part of what's suppose to be a game for all ages?
Wow, you guys that wanted 'em back a year or two ago, there you are. Even with the entire cast of both generations of the team, I wonder how they'll fill 25 figs.

I don't think it's their attempt to rekindle the IndyClix flame. I think it's their attempt to cash in on the whole reason they bought WizKids - to tie it in to their other licenses and make even more money.
At this point, the new WizKids seems to be doing almost everything right. They're trying to please the fans, provide good customers service, and a great product. By giving us what we want, they're doing what many companies out there simply can't (or won't) do.
I wanted them, they're making them, I'm going to buy them.
1. Dr. Manhattan (regular size)
2. Ozymandias
3. Silk Spectre II
4. Comedian
5. Rorshach
6. Nite Owl II
7. Silouette
8. Nite Owl I
9. Silk Spectre I
10. Dollar Bill
11. Mothman
12. Hooded Justice
13. Captain Metropolis
14. Bubastis
15. Moloch
16. Owl ship
17. Big Figure (?)
18. prison thug (?)
19. Young Comedian (?)
20. giant Dr. Manhattan
21. snow-suit Nite Owl II (?)
22. knot-top punk (?)
That's about all I can come up with. Unless there are more than one version of the main characters in the starter, I don't know how they'll come up with 25 figures. More generics, like thugs?
The copy says 25 highly detailed miniatures. Some, of course, have to be figures, but my guess would be that a few 3D objects are also going to count toward that 25-piece Collector's Set total.
