ATA stands for Alternate Team Abilty. With the new rules seems like they should have been renamed to Additional team Ability.
From what I am understanding when you pay for the ATA they get that TA in addition to the original one. So say you Thunderbolt. a Wildcard can use both TAs (not at once) But say Avengers to free move and Mystics on opponents turn.
Yeah I have been saying this since they stated that they would technically be additional team ability
I like these changes and dread them at the same time. I'm still completely hazy on the 'can't make an action illegal' qualifier for wildcard copying. I'm not sure when exactly you will have to declare 'copying Batman' to have it work for you. Or if you can say 'I will be copying Batman by default unless I state otherwise" or if you are always at a null status and then have to yell COPYING BATMAN at someone as soon as they say "I'm gonna shoot at..." and hope you yell it before they choose a target.
Or if you have to do say "I'm copying Mystics" for one attack, and as soon as it resolves, then say "I am going back to copying Batman now" before your opponent declares another action.

Two things to remember:
1) You always have the last TA you copied until you change.
2) You can only change when an action is declared.
so say secret invasion spiderman with both ff4 and avengers keywiords can in effect have bopth thuinderbolts and the fantastic force ata's at the same time?!?!

And what that means is you cannot have a team with Aurora and Venom and use Alpha Flight on Aurora and Thunderbolts on Venom. On your force you may have a maximum of 1 ATA so choose wisely...
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
I belive you but where does it say that? Ive been staring at the new rule book for days and its making me blind lol
In the ATA section, page 17. Last line, in fact:
ALTERNATE TEAM ABILITIES
Alternate Team Ability (ATA) cards can be added to your force if the characters on your team meet the prerequisite listed on the card. Each ATA card indicates the cost per character that must be added to your force in order to use it in the game. ATA cards provide either different or additional team abilities to the qualifying characters on your force. These team abilities are possessed by the qualifying characters and can be used by wild cards (unless the ATA specifies otherwise). A force may only include one ATA card.

With the new Rules on Wildcards
What about the Feat Siphon Power?
Will that feat be copiable by Wildcards now?
Prerequisites: Wild card team ability
Choose a character.
This character has the following team ability instead of any team ability for team symbols printed on its base:
Once at the beginning of each player's turn, this character may choose and use on that turn any team ability that any figure on the battle map possesses. This team ability follows all other rules for the wild card team ability

ATAs are team abilities. Assuming that the ATA is normally usable by wildcards, Siphon away!
This is all a moot point now that the new ATA rules have kicked in. ATAs are all governed by keywords now and separate from the symbols on the bases. In other words, its entirely possible for a Wildcard to both copy the standard TA and have the ATA at the same time (since you have to pay a cost). I'd also check out the new players guide for the updated ATAs. FYI, Thunderbolts is now 8pts per fig.
Under the old rules though you could not wildcard ATAs. Trust me, its in the old players guide. Somewhere.
Sorry, I'm uber-confused. Where is it noted that T-Bolts is now 8pts / figure?
As far as wildcards keying off keywords now, does that mean a Legion of Super Heroes wildcard can't copy the Batman team ally ability because he doesn't have the Gotham City keyword?

The player's guide, for one. Soon, all ATAs should be available via print and play through the Heroclix webpage. Plus, there are several "unofficial" pdfs floating around on the main page that people have put together, if instant gratification is more your thing

No... wild cards copy TAs the same (more or less) as always. But you can only put the Legion ATA on characters with the correct keyword and the LoSH TA, the wild card one, doesn't matter as far as the ATA is concerned. CRisis Supergirl, for example, has the correct keyword and the Superman Ally TA... she can use the ATA.
