If you're hesitant and primarily a Marvel guy, pass on them. It's hard to believe they still have packs left. I haven't seen any Crisis or SI or HoT around here in a long time. Who knows? If they are still sitting there after WOS comes out, they may be at a reduced price for you to buy or you might just decide that you were better off waiting for WOS to spend your money on. As a general rule, impulse buying is bad on many levels.

I'd go for it. It is a great set. I wish I hadn't sold and traded all my doubles. Especially Sinestro. I would have never guessed he would be so valuable. The whole set is great and even if you don't like DC good chance you'll have some great trade fodder. It's also my experience that people who pull chases are usually those who aren't fans of the particular company. Marvel fans pull DC chases. It's like murphy's law.

Truth on that. That's how I got one originally. I weighed some packs at a local hobby store and picked the heaviest. Lo and behold, the Spirit of Vengence was upon me!
But seriously though, Crisis is my favorite DC set hands down ( Secret Invasion on the Marvel side ). I am a card carrying member of the Merry Marvel Marching Society, but I echo what everyone's been saying. If you have the money to burn, buy the boosters. If not, check out the units section and see what figures you want and then get them off the interweb for a decent price.
Crisis MVP's ( in my opinion ): Chief, Nightwing, Aqualad, Green Lantern, Rip Hunter, Knightfall Batman and the Roy Harper LE ( and Thunderer of Qward, but he's in the Anti-Monitor action pack ))
Not that you'll ever open any of theose I've bolded out of a booster pack....
Knightfall BM was a con exclusive single.
Roy Harper was an LE prize.
and the Thunderer only came in the AM action pack.
Thanks for all the solid advice. when i gt the chance in a few days ill probly go and pick up a few boosters. just spend the last 2 hours going down through the set list anyway. Seems like a nice set. Even a lot of the commons seem decient.
I think Crisis is up there among the best heroclix sets ever, so I might consider getting those boosters. Honestly, I don't like Brave and the Bold much at all and I also might consider NOT buying a case of it. I got a case of BatB and pulling Ka El was the only reason I'm not totally bummed about it.

I always consider it this way: is it worth $2 a figure for a booster of commons, uncommons, and a rare? Are the rares worth it? What are the chances of getting a good rare vs. a bad rare? How many doubles am I likely going to get? If I buy a booster, I assume it will only have a rare (no SR or chase). If it is still worth it after that, I'll buy the booster. Once the odds increase that I'll get doubles, booster purchases become less appealing.
I dug Crisis, but I'd personally go for a set that has more/better generics. AA and HoT are the best recent examples (excepting BatB, as that's pretty self-evident).

so with some spare change i picked up a booster to see what id get. theres like 15 boosters left there. there isnt any venue around that has organized play right now, and hasnt been in a while. id say the boosters have been thuroughly shaken by now though. crack the booster from the bottom like i usualy do, tape and glue on the top, bottom, and the card bag seems to be untouched so i know they havnt been picked through. booster yielded;

Well I'm happy for you. That doesn't mean it's a great idea. Buying on impulse is the easiest way for a person to get themselves into financial trouble. That's what I'm talking about.

I opened several of that booster (IIRC I had 5 Shimmers, four Tempests, four Klarions and four Red Hoods). I know if I picked the next one for you it would have Trigon, Dr. Sivana and Mercury.
I'm a Marvel guy and not so much a DC guy but I bought more Crisis than any other set (Four bricks and countless) boosters. There are so many great and/or fun characters from that set.
I have pretty much the entire set several times over, aside from Super Rares and Chases. PM me if there are any common, uncommon or rare figs you'd be willing to trade for and I'll let you know if I have extra. I'm mostly looking for some old, not so good figs for theme team building purposes (4 Iron Lads, for example, so I can team them with Immortus). Let me know if there's any Crisis figs you want and maybe we can work something out.
