It's undeniable that there are fewer items in the OP kit per dollar than there was during Hammer of Thor.
That said, are the OP kits still worth what they cost to buy? I'd argue that they're still very cheap for what you get out of them.
Sure, it would be great if LEs were still free, but if that's not an economic reality anymore then I'm glad that the cost of acquiring them for a venue is worthwhile regardless.

I buy canadian Op kits, so my cash expense is a bit higher. I don't mind, it gets prizes into the hands of players and players into the store.
If it gets less it might be a painful hit to the wallet, but as of right now, thats still 15 figures alone for a prize group. If I give away 3 a week that is 5 weeks not even accounting for web markers.
I don't know if appreciate is the word I'd use, but I am pretty much programmed to not take anything vga posts seriously due to the trolling.
If anyone is so aggravated by his posts that they need to call him out for "trolling" maybe they should block him out from their cpu? I understand that you don't like the guy but it almost seems like stuff like that is said just to pick fights, imho. I'm not minimodding- just offering an opinion on the subject.
I remember when the OP kits were free, but then you were only allowed ONE KIT and it contained 15 LE's and cardboard with Event Dials (roughyl-I know each set varied with Avengers on).
Now, even though the kit may have become smaller, you (as a retailer) are allowed to order THREE (with enough product), giving you essentially more prize support.
It does suck to have more for less, but at least there still is support for each set.
No rest until the great works of Anthony Edward Stark are in clix forms
Soon...his works will be realized... in 2013 the Hall of Armor in clix!
I could really care less about the card elements. But even without them, there has been less "plastic" prizes each time while cost continues to go up. We've also had an increase in the Brick figure two sets in a row now.
I'm not liking the trending here.
There are 542,000 children in foster care. Talk to your local foster and adoptive agency. You could change a life.
Didn't everybody complain how the cardboard elements were bad prizes? I am bummed about the 6 maps, but seriously: so many people complained about the cardboard being bad prizes, it was bound to happen.

Could be they've underestimated the expense of these things are are making the correction (perhaps gradually, and there might be further increase).
As someone pointed out, the OP kit is about the cost of 2 boosters, but is more pieces by over 50%.

I think with these examples you have to throw out comparisons to the HoT Prize Kit. NECA was trying to bring excitement back to the community and these sets were likely loss leaders. I'm going to guess that the kits cost NECA more than they charged.
If you compare the BatB kits to the WoS kits (sans cardboard because of PnP) there isn't a whole lot of difference and you could chalk this up to inflation. I will say the decrease in map numbers is a disappointment.

Is the bolded really neccessary? It amounts to a cheap shot at WK employees who I believe bust their asses to give us the game they love. To say that they don't take pride in their work is ridiculous. If they didn't take pride in their work we wouldn't have gotten stuff like better painted eyes on figs in WoS or immediate replies about the Watchmen Silk Spectre issues or the ability to use PayPal for WoS brick figs.
More prizes is definitely better, but nothing for me personally to get in a huff over. I'm not a venue owner, or judge, nor do i have any connections to get the OP kit other than playing to win, and I'm not that much of a prize shark/hound. .
Having said that, the prize kits should have at least enough material to get us to the next set.
For WoS 1st and Fellowship (2 prizes a week) barely gets us to the DC75 release date, 3 prizes a week (1st, 2nd, and Fellowship) leaves us a few weeks short.
My H/W link does not reflect the wants for my collection, it is a list of figures that I already have, but still "want" to play.
I think it's interesting that we're willing to jump on this without having an idea about the actual cost difference between kits for WK.
Is the cost of producing the LE Venom with the big brick wall the same as the cost of little Diana Prince? Does the web token mold use space and plastic as efficiently as the compact little Mjolnir mold? Is it even the same kind of plastic? Did WK suffer a loss on the HoT prize kits in an effort to get the game back up and running, a loss that they may no longer be able to afford considering the replacement policy they're hashing out on the Watchmen set?
I really don't know the answer to any of these questions. I'm assuming that VGA doesn't either, since he didn't include these facts or the comparative mathematics in his facts and math. Keep in mind that WK is obligated to make certain decisions that keep them in the black with a comfortable margin; we are not their shareholders, after all.
The real question we should be asking ourselves is whether or not the WoS OP kit is worth $25. Going by VGA's post about how spending $25-$75 on these kits for advancement of the game (and sales at his FLGS) is easily worth it, he would tend to think that it is, and I would agree.
