Just so we're clear on this, everything I like is the "cool" thing to listen to. Anybody who says any different is giving out bad information.
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
1) The Cranberries - Ah, I love me some Cranberries. That voice is beautiful, and while this isn't their best (Ode to My Family and Zombie are my favourites) it's still cool.
2) Argent - Hmm. I just get the feeling of driving through a desert, at night, in the American West, listening to this. And I've never been to the West. And I can't drive. Spooky.
3) Mumford & Sons - I wasn't hugely impressed by Mumford & Sons when I listened to the album, which is odd 'cause it's the sort of thing that I usually do like. This one was pretty good though.
4) Rollins Band - Hmm. A strange beast. Not sure what to make of it. This could be one or two spots either way...
5) The Sex Pistols - Another band where you kind of know what you're going to get. Lots of energy though.
6) Queen - I do like some of Queen's back catalogue, but this seemed average for them. Still better than many bands will ever manage, but not their best.
And a long, long way behind...
7) Korn - The polite response is 'No'. The impolite version is a string of expletives that would offend Roy 'Chubby' Brown. I didn't like it.
Sex Pistols - I love this song. It may be one of the low points on Bullocks for most people, but I have always loved cranking up this track and yelling along with it.
Mumford and Sons - I had of these guys before but I hadn't heard their music. It turns out they are outstanding.
Henry Rollins - I bought this album once upon a time and when me and my buddy went home and listened to our albums I way preferred his newly purchased Sonic Youth album so we traded. This is still a good song, but I am glad I made the swap.
The Cranberries - This was on the Empire Records soundtrack, which I was a huge fan of in high school. I think every single person I knew owned a copy of it so it kind of became part of our high school soundtrack. THis was kind of in the middle of that soundtrack quality-wise for me as it was on the album it originally came off of, but I still dig it and I still dig this band.
Argent - I had never heard the original until now, I prefer it to the cover. A solid funky rock tune.
Queen - A bit of a mediocre outing from an amazing band.
Korn - This sounds a lot more like "lets make sure this song fits into our established sound and the bands marketing" than "lets make an interesting song." The end result is a bland, stupid song.
Of course he says that, this was one of the hardest groupings for me to sit through.
So I don't need to find just Country songs to torture you with, eh?

My music collection contains everything from ABBA to Rob Zombie (and I am pretty sure that I have a ZZ Top cassette in a box somewhere).
If I like a song I will vote for it. I do not care what "genre" someone else says it is, or whether someone else says that it is the "cool" thing to listen to.
One of the things I like about this gang is that though people inherently have their leanings, I think everyone thinks this same way. I know that Surfer will be more likely to vote for the hard rock song, and DTM will likely go with something from the 80's and I am more drawn to punk, folk and indie rock, but everyone can be swayed by a good tune from well outside their comfort zone.
As for supporting what is "cool", I think that goes out the window at about 16 and is briefly replaced by an even more annoying trend towards hating anything that is "cool", which thankfully also goes out the window in the late 20's.
I don't really get the hatred for using genres, some music does sound more alike than other music, like some literature can be labeled mystery and others can be labeled non-fiction. So what. I don't think anyone is going to like everything hip hop just because it is hip hop, everyone likes bands based on individual merit, it may end up that they lean towards one sound or another but I don't think it hurts anyone to say the Strokes are rock, De La Soul are hip hop, the Descendants are punk. All three are clearly rad.

It wasn't all bad for me, just mostly meh.
Only one song that I really didn't like, though it seems to be getting a good rating for others.

No, and I can say the same, but my statement was intended to point out that I do not discriminate based on something being "new wave" or "punk".
I prefer to weigh everything on it's own merits in my mind and my ears, and unavoidably at times, in my life.

That's cool then, I misunderstood, and I completely agree.
I tend not to like stuff people would categorize as metal or classic rock, and while I may not dig something that sounds like the kind of generic metal I find annoying I am not going to hate it just because it lives in the metal section, something can be metal and good. There are a few metal bands that have won me over, as there are a few in every single genre, it is all about the right band and one thing I think is so cool about these threads is that it seems that everyone is on that same page.
Except for country music. I think we can all agree on not liking country...oooops, my bad...sorry RE
Have you been possessed by the spirit of DTM?
I'm really surprised at the low score Queen seems to be getting. I love early Queen and it doesn't get any earlier then Liar.
Pleasantly surprised at the reaction to Argent. At least the cries for the Three Dog Night version were minimal.

Once, I would have agreed with you in a kneejerk reaction. Still not my genre of choice, but I find the older I get the more I find within the "Country" genre that I like.
Sex pistols – I get the Sex Pistols, I was a fan in high school and I read about them, needing to know more and to find out why all the angst. I read a lot of things and the AOR and MOR crowds hated them, but I found a certain respect for them and what they accomplished. It really was the great rock and roll swindle and they pulled it off with dramatic flair.
Mumford and Sons – This is a pretty folk tune. I got a chance to play the Sigh No More CD about 4 or 5 times in the last couple of weeks and my favorite tune is Winter Winds. If you like Liar I suggest checking out Winter Winds and Little Lion Man.
Queen – I’m probably going to rank this higher than most of the other ‘club’ members. My older sister brought this LP home and used to get pissed off at me all the time because she’d have to go to my room and take the LP off my turntable. Musically, this song just rocks me and I truly dig Brian May’s guitar work throughout.
Cranberries – Sweet melody and I have a thing for female singers of Irish persuasion. Dolores has always made me go to a dream state and she did it here again.
Argent – I’ve always had a lot of respect for Russ Ballard as a songwriter, the 70s were his specialty too with Since You Been Gone, Hold Your Head Up, I Know There’s Something Going On and a heckuva lot more.
Korn – Great so you guys employ a 7-string guitar, wow, I’m impressed, but not really. I’ve never been a fan and this is actually better than most of their other songs I’ve heard, but I still dislike it.
Rollins- I hate when singer’s have to yell at me. Sorry, I just didn’t get this song at all.
