Speaking of funky, thank you for reaqquanting me with Mother's Finest.
Soon as I get back on track with a decent computer I'm going to check out the entire YouTube library for that band.
This little Toshiba laptop is a sad state of affairs.
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.

We just bought a Sony Vaio, It seems pretty good so far. Mother's Finest kicks some mighty butt. I started checking out guitarist Moses Mo online. I had forgotten how good that dude was.
I used to hear all about them when I lived in California but never found any of their albums. Then they just kind of faded from my memory banks over the years.

Dis you even know who Steve Winwood is? I seriously doubt you do because you'd never have made such an inaccurate statement.
Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, Jim Capaldi, Dave Mason, Chris Wood, Jim Gordon, Arturo Sandoval, Willie Weeks, Joe Walsh, Nile Rodgers, Randy Brecker, Walfredo Reyes Jr.
Arc of a Diver and Talking Back to the Night were recorded entirely by Steve Winwood.
Horrible musicians? Yeah, okay. Those artists above were all in bands with Winwood or performed on his releases.
I know perfectly well who he is. I just see no reason to run down the competition of consider this a wrap because you have "deemed" it so, is all.

Wow, Terry Kath huh? That's amazing because I really don't hear him come up in a lot of conversations when it comes to great guitarists. I just finished a Jimi Biography and there's no mention of Kath at all. Billy Gibbons, yes; Kath, no. I think Jimi may have liked his playing, but Kath isn't one of the great guitarists nor should he be considered one.
Most of their songs do that to me.
Parazaider has repeated that in many interviews, and no one has stepped up to refute it.

I could go back through all the Guitar, Guitar World and all the other mags and I'm pretty sure it would be refuted through polls and other artists. C'mon man, give it up.

I'm not agruing the results at all. It was the "foregone conculsion" comment that riled me up. Which was all you.
You may not have any respect for them, or they may not suit your tastes, but nothing is ever a "foregone conculsion" in music. That's all I was saying. Not kicking up a huge pile or anything, only that, yes, you has access to the world that few of us do, BUT it doesn't mean you that your choices are the right ones. Only the right one for you.

or in this case 10-1 or 91% of the people who voted. CTA and later Chicago were a mediocre band at best that just happened to have a period where they had a lot of hits. Their influences are minimal right now and that includes their guitar work and their horn section.

were a mediocre band at best is still your opinion, as that mediocore band at best still sells records and tickets.
They have sold over 38 million units in the U.S., with 22 gold, 18 platinum, and 8 multi-platinum albums.[4][5] Over the course of their career they have charted five No. 1 albums, and have had 21 top ten hits.
Second only to The Beach Boys in terms of Billboard singles and albums chart success among American bands, Chicago is one of the longest running and most successful pop/rock and roll groups.
The band appeared on the American Idol 9th season finale.
This is from Wiki. If you follow a link at the end of their article that says
They are in the 100 to 199 million record range, with 122 million. And if you look at others there, you will see...the WHO, with only 100 million. Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen? only 120 million. So I'd say they are more than medicore at best, and millions around the world agree.
Music is subjective, as we know. This isn't about one vs. another, after its all over. It's about how sometimes you think, because of your position, you think you know better than the rest of us. And that's not right, hoss. We like what we like for whatever reason. Like I said, I have MANY good memories ties into Chicago's music, none with Steve's. It was just background noise. I wouldn't turn the station if he came on, but my woman wouldn't go, "If we get Steve Winwood tickets guess what happens..."

First of all, grow up. What are you, 10? My name isn’t ‘Hoss’ and you need to stop acting like a child in the playground.
Secondly, I love when guys like you start with their, “you think you know better argument, but you don’t.” And actually, in this case I certainly do know better and whenever I hear someone throw out the ‘subjective’ argument, they lose me. That’s what people do when they have no musical argument. But to take it one step further, in your case you’ve already proved you don’t know much, if anything, about Steve Winwood. So how can that be subjective? It’s perception and you can only base your perception on one and not the other because you know nothing about the other. End of story.
But back to the topic at hand, you need to just let it go, most people except for you and your woman don’t go crazy for Chicago. They were a nice pop band, but you can take all of their record sales and all of Lou Reed’s and they probably blow Lou out of the water, but if you ask most musicians who they dialed in as their influence over the other, Chicago may get one vote for every 100. Same thing with Steve Winwood. Being a nice pop band doesn’t translate to being a musical icon and Chicago is living proof of that.
Go to the concerts and enjoy them, that’s your cup of tea, I like more of a musical challenge and will take Winwood and a thousand other bands over the pop pablum of a Chicago.

Why, do you "know better?" Because it's your job to? Because of your unique access? Pfft. It's that kind of thinking that keeps Rush out of the Hall, which we all know they deserve to be. And how did that work out for you during your Trios when you tried to pick who would be the winner based on your "knowledge?"
All of that is still based on what you what from a band. I never said Winwood was a lesser musician than Chicago, only that they were fine ones. Again, look at those numbers. They have outsold Springsteen and the WHO, both musicial icons.

What did I prove I didn't know about Winwood? Again, I didn't badmouth him at all (which is what started this whole thing off, your need to run down another band for no reason), nor would I, I liked him in the Spencer Davis Group, I liked him in Traffic, and I liked him solo. I just liked Chicago's version of this song better and didn't see the need to run down Winwood to say it.

Rush does indeed belong in the hall as do many neglected bands and musicians.
My theory is the hall is run by the same people that declared Jethro Tull was a heavy metal act at the Grammys.

It looks like that idiot DrFate98 really jumped the gun with his comment earlier.
I think we should lynch HIM.
I've loved Winwood forever and I've also enjoyed Chicago, particularly their earlier, harder stuff. I suspect they both respect each other's music, and would probably get quite the kick out of this discussion. I have up to this point, just would hate for it to get any more intense. After all, if everyone had exactly the same tastes, these votes would all be sort of silly and useless.
