True. I don't know if you are supposed to "waste' an issue rescueing half your team, but if not, they all could wake up in the Sanctum, with some...hellish visions. As I said, I just write what comes to me and what I feel you gives are pushing the story toward. But as it is your team, and WakandaMan is the editor, feel free to use as little or as much as you want.

Epilogue, Written by Space Jawa

The three women practically tumbled out of the portal as they escaped from the vile realm, leaving the monsters and unholy abominations behind them. With the immense difference in location between them occurring at such a rapid pace, the connection that Adam and Clea were using to keep the portal open was severed, and the portal closed in a flash of light.

“Where are the others?” Wong asked, standing nearby.

It was only then that Clea, Jazinda, and Gamora realized that only they had managed to get free. The plan had only half-succeeded, and unlike what they had expected, the others had not teleported back to the mortal plane upon losing consciousness. What they had been shown of their fallen comrades had been no trick or attempt to deal a blow to their confidence.

It had been the truth – that the rest of the Guardians had been left behind.

“No. No!” Gamora exclaimed as she realized what had happened. “We have to go back!”

She turned to look at the others. “Open it. We’re going back for them.”

Glances filled the room; the silence of their voices left questions behind as each individual tried to think of what to say.

“Well?” Gamora asked impatiently, her symbiote having stretched out across her body. It looked as though it might have even been expanding beyond her normal mass.

“I…can’t,” Clea finally said, her voice only just audible at first. “We can’t go back.”

“What?” Gamora responded, as if she wasn’t about to accept it as an answer. While nobody else noticed it, part of her symbote slowly began to ooze over the hilts of the blades she was carrying.

“I can’t re-open the portal.” Clea said, her voice now full again.

“Why. Not?” Gamora asked, her voice fully of malice. Had the others listened closely enough, they would have heard a kind of low, dark echo in the woman’s voice.

“I’m not trained enough. I don’t have enough knowledge to open it on my own,” Clea said, sorry that she was unable to help but confident in her response. After all, it was the truth. Without the assistance of Adam Warlock or Dr. Strange himself, she was just not capable of doing what Gamora asked.

Behind her, Wong’s footing had slowly taken a stance drawn from the martial arts. He could not be certain as to what Gamora intended to do or if combat would be necessary, but if the woman intended to try something stupid, he was more than prepared to show her one of the many reasons he had been in service to the Sorcerer Supreme for so many years.

“I don’t believe you,” Gamora said, her voice filled with venom as she slowly drew her sword. The ooze of her symbiote slowly flowed down the blade, making it even more deadly than it already was.

Wong’s arms slowly raised from his side, preparing him for the combat he was almost certain would start at any moment.

“Gamora, listen,” Jazinda said. “Why would she have any reason to lie to you? You know that it took both of them to open it in the first place. Why should she have suddenly gained the ability to do it on her own?”

“Why should I listen to you, Skrull?” Gamora said, her words stabbing at her teammate.

“Because we’re supposed to be teammates. We’re supposed to be on the same side,” Jazinda said, her eyes like daggers as she tried to look past Gamora's little insult.

“If I may ask,” Wong said, his stance now clearly preparing him to unleash his knowledge of kung fu if it was so required. “even if Clea could open the portal, what then? What plan do you have to save your friends?”

“He’s right,” Clea added. “Do you really want to rush in there, leave Jazinda alone to collect the last Gem, and risk everything? Including the future hope of rescuing them? Is that what you think the friends you wish to rescue would want? Mantis? Major Victory? Adam Warlock?”

Gamora's blade lowered and the ooze retracted from it as she considered the words being said and she tried to calm herself down.

“We still have the other Gem to find before Thanos does,” Jazinda said, then thought to herself out loud. “Which one was it…?”

“Space Gem,” Wong said without much hesitation.

“Exactly, Space Gem. That’s the one that allows teleportation, right? Maybe we can use that to rescue them.”

“You’re right,” Gamora said, her symbiote pulling back to it default low-cut ‘V’ layout.

“You’re right,” she said again as she slowly fell to her knees and let her head hang free, her sword serving as an impromptu staff.


There was a deep, collective sigh of relief as the tension dissipated. Wong, meanwhile, returned to his neutral stance as if nothing had ever happened.

“Let’s go, Jazinda,” Gamora said as she lifted her head back up. “Let’s go find the Space Gem.”
