Really man? That set has some of the most played/useful/great figures to date. Shazaam, Jason Blood, Talia, the generics, the one dude in the trench coat with the gun, Diane Prince, Kid Zoom, cave carson. The SRs sucked in that set, that was about it.
BatB is just about absent from our meta. I like the set but it's just not all that competitive. Maybe an odd Cave Carson will pop up every now and again as filler or on a Magneto team or LE Diana Prince on a martial artist team or Jason Blood on a mystical team. There's fun stuff in BatB but only about five figures are meta worthy and only one was significant at GenCon, Kid Zoom.
If WoS is retired will Kid Zoom be used? Perhaps as a general HSS counter but with NC gone you can just outwit the HSS on that HSS brick you're concerned with.
Will Diana Prince see the light of day without NC as the killbox's fishing pole? I think only as martial artist filler.
The others have general utility and might see increased meta play if WoS is put to pasture but with new sets on the horizon they may just get outclassed by the new hotness.
I misread your post then. It sounded generalized "BATB sucks." Just a year before it dominated Gencon. Some of the figures were not seen as much this year - but as new sets and figures come out the game changes/progresses - I guess I just don't see how BATB can be called "sucks." It clearly was a ridiculously good set. If the SRs in that set weren't duos it would be considered one of the tops sets ever IMO.
But if you are simply speaking to your local gaming group, then, ok.
We're not quite as competitive as I would like so our meta tends to be made up mostly of the new stuff. I would love it if WK would come down to Wizard World Austin so I can get in on the convention level meta.

Is Wizard World there as awful as it has been in Chicago lately? I doubt they will ever, nor would I really want them to, go to WW anymore.
You may want to look at the quote rowdy posted again. It quite clearly says 2 years, not 3.
Personally I expect everything up to and including the Blackest night starter to retire.
I wasn't going off of rowdy's list I was under the apparently incorrect assumption that every set stayed Modern for three years but I guess post-Neca this hasn't been the case. I guess the pre-Neca sets got stretched an extra year because clix went away. Wow 2 years then retired that's...wow. There was some link regarding starters and retirement before, maybe it's been replaced but there used to be something where each year they would retire up to the next set with a starter or something.
Thru Web of Spider-man. Meaning - WOS and before would be out. I think it would be awesome if they did it. But I could see people getting pissed. I hope they do.
Well WoS would only have been in Worlds/Modern for one year then, so I doubt it. But trust me it would be awesome. Without the threat of NC the teambuilding would be so much sexier.

I dunno man. I've used Magneto a bunch. If you base him it pretty much wrecks him.
+1 to BatB. Everyone says it sucks because they don't like the duos, which is fair enough, but the set is pretty awesome. Quite a few strong supporting figs.
Frankly, I kind of hope they kill ATAs from Modern Age. I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it, but the ATAs are an aberration in a format that allows no cardboard (except ATAs!).
Ask yourself, would Bullseye be so big a threat if he couldn't use the Thunderbolts ATA? Yes, he still remains competitive, but not nearly as much without Ultimates or Mystics, or X-Men or whatever backing him up. Ignoring Shape Change and Super Senses is enough as it is, but ignoring Stealth too? Bleah. Why not just take all the skill out of the game.
Sure Bullseye is strong because he is strong for his pts + Tbolts for 8 pts. But Tbolts has to stay. Ultimates is pretty much dead. Superman is going to get boosted here pretty soon, but there has been no great Supes Ally figs (Talia doesn't count bc you can't WC it from her) for WC purposes in 300 since Lois really. Other than Tbolts, Supes Ally, and Ultimates there's only what...TK, mobility (even that's not a great solution, if you are forced to close combat stealth figs with combat reflexes), SR Green Lantern, Rojhaz, etc.

Actually, it would be 2 1/2 years. WoS came out shortly after Gencon 2010.
But only one Gencon.
I see WoS going out, and Superman will probably get the same treatment come its time to "retire."

But it would only have been played at Worlds for one year: Gencon 2011. That's less than two years, and actually only one year for Worlds purposes. WoS released September 2010, and was only Worlds playable Gencon 2011. So unless they just want to get rid of NC, there is no possible way it's not going to be Worlds legal at Gencon 2012. When I said Worlds/Modern above, I'm not talking about Modern at your local venue. I'm simply talking about what is Modern for the big tournaments like Origins or Gencon.
