I'm not caring for this figure at all. The old Vet Doc Sampson puts this one to shame!!!
You say that until someone starts outwitting the hell out of A.S.S. (All Star Superman) and your thinking "damn modern age and STUPID 10%,". Now enter Doc Sampson who with a power action restores Superman to all his horrific glory FROM 4 SQUARES AWAY. Or Doc Sampson could use that power on Rip Hunter to prevent people from Outwitting Rip's SP. Now you can't outwit A.S.S., Rip, or anyone else using standard/named powers adjacent to Rip Hunter. .
I think Doc Samson would have been a great candidate for the weapon swap mechanic. Have one version for support and another version as an attacker. Need some battlefield manipulation? Put the Doc in charge. Stuck in a corner? Let Samson flex his muscles.
Plus I’d much prefer two versions of Doc Samson in a Hulk themed set rather than 4 versions of Punisher…
The only problem with this piece is that the original Doc Sampson V had up front charge. This made him one of my favorite pieces from early sets. I like putting Doc and She-Hulk on a team with two Mandroid Armors for some TK-CHG goodness! Have to find other brutes -- the Hulks cost too much, so I'm looking at Herc for a team-up!
Thing is people sort of fail to understand is that any major hitter that he can be paired with will be immune to outwit including PC/Q figures when Dirk Anger is around. Combine Doc Samson with the Violet Lantern and you have some good fun.

(Speed) Psychological Trickery: Doc Samson can use Mind Control. When he does so, he modifies his attack value by +1, and after actions resolve he can use Outwit and Perplex targeting a character he hit with this use of Mind Control.

I don't see it. just a one trick pony that will be crushed from afar. 108 points with a 8 attack, no stealth and a low defense - didn't care for him in the comic and less in clix form. Maybe in larger games he could be viable but at 300 -
I think that his dial is alright but who in the hell thought 108 was a fair point cost? He could easily still be fair at 70. I can think of a million clicks under 100 points who would mop the floor with him.
In other news, the XP REV and LE Doc Samsons are excited that they will continue to see action on the game table.
Not necessarily singling you out specifically, but since it has been brought up a couple times, I want to repost this from the other Doc Samson thread.

So that first click is pretty sweet. Easy to hit, but it can deal some good damage of its own... but it is all down hill after that. Even back in his prime, the real reason to play this beatstick was because the L/C and low DV made him ideal for retreating back to a medic to be healed. Support is not nearly as dominating as it used to be, so the only real reason to play this guy is virtually nonexistant.
I'll take the new Samson over the old one any day.
