PEOPLE are selfish and opportunistic by NATURE. Selfishness and opportunism are two of the fundamental building blocks of our past and ongoing survival as a species on this planet. Society builds up the artificial constructs of "right" and "wrong" and "honorable" and "dishonorable" and invents terms like "greedy" and "deplorable," but, as a point of fact, society wouldn't need these artificial constructs, these attempts against self-serving activity, if it wasn't natural to be self-serving.
People ARE ***holes, and people will always be ***holes...regardless of how rose-tinted your glasses may be.
To the discussion at hand:
Is ripping open a pack and looking inside any different than shaking it or comparing the weight of it to other packs?
There is a literal difference, of course, but there is absolutely zero difference in the spirit behind the activity. The person who takes two packs in hand and says "this one is heavier, and I know Hulk is the heaviest in the set" and then buys the heavier pack is consciously attempting to circumvent the "blindness" of the pack. It's not guaranteed, because human error is a mitigating factor, but the spirit of the activity is the same.
So, to anyone who is up in arms over this pettiness, I would simply say that humans are petty, and this behavior shouldn't surprise you. And unless you can say that you have never shaken a wrapped gift, weighed a pack by hand, etc. then you are guilty of the exact same kind of pettiness. Pot meet Kettle.
I can't say I agree with cherry picking, but if it isn't breaking any rules on paper then let them do it as long as they can.
I bought two boosters this morning 100% blind and got the Hulk and Heimdal. I did not lose my smile for the rest of the day. Hulk and Loki were what I was looking for and my friend had already gotten the Loki out of the box, but I figured I'd give it a try and hope I get something good.
I have pulled 3 chases from normal boosters and now the Hulk I wanted (having only bought about 5 boosters total now). I get satisfaction from having some pure dumb luck, if other people don't want to gamble I can understand. It might ruin it for me at some point, but they can do whatever they want and I'll just play "fair". At the end of the day my conscience is clear.
There's good & bad in ALL segments of life. Sadly some will judge based on a minority even if the majority is good. It's easy to focus on the negative few esp. when they leave "disaster" in thier wake. I choose not to do so.
Hopefully vandals will be caught but please don't judge a community by the actions of a few rogues.
My curse is that I have Spidey-Sense for stupid. It tingles.
Wait... So he's stupid for wanting people to stop complaining? It is just little toy men we are talking about. The way some people react on here you would think the world was going to end if they don't get their preciouses. Does it suck? Sure. But in the long run we all have more important things in life then catching them all

Loki, the god of mischief, is doing his job in bringing out the worst in people. Great choice for the chase in this instance!
The truly ironic part is that the average consumer - whom this mass market stuff is mistakenly aimed at - won't even KNOW that Loki is a chase and IF the average consumer were to cherry pick, they would cherry pick Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, etc.
Not knowing the value of the piece or the utility of the dial, they would just go for the bright, shiny "known" characters.
Not that they'll ever get a chance to cherry pick Loki, anyway.
May all your hits be crits!
On the whole, human beings want to be good — but not too good, and not quite all the time. - George Orwell
I saw somewhere and have heard that people go to target and cherry pick good pieces out of the packs, leaving some packs torn apart and ripped and even figures broken in some cases.
How does that make the heroclix community look?
Even if the people at the retailer don't know of the heroclix community, how do the good heroclix people feel knowing that there is such scum people that play this game and give us a bad name
I have to admit naivety, I guess. I had no idea that THAT was cherry-picking. I thought cherry-picking was the act of just weighing boosters or whatever in-hand to try and get a certain piece. I feel guilty enough about doing that, I'd probably have an aneurysm if I opened boosters in the store.
