If 1-2 gems are attached special power 1 may be used. Powers 2 and 3 are ignored.
If 3-4 gems are attached special powers 1 and 2 may be used. Power 3 is ignored.
If 5-6 gems are attached special powers 1, 2, and 3 may be used.
No grand conspiracy, just that the Gauntlet is underpriced and making the gems cost 10 points would be a step in the right direction in terms of balancing cost effectiveness.
Or just make resources golden age and then allow them to be played during the event where you are playing for the pieces. So during the IG events, the IG and gems are legal to play regardless of format. Outside of IG events, the IG is only legal in golden age where feats are also allowed.
The Gauntlet is fine as is. Every who constantly complains it needs an errata need to move on. This is Nightcrawler whine all over again. Same whine as KC Flash, same whine as ICWO. Really if you think the game is this bad move on.
To clarify, I don't think the Gauntlet is fundamentally broken, I just think the pricing on the Gems as stand alone relics is higher than it should be, which lead me to the above theory that we're dealing with a misprint or miscommunication.
Hmmmm.... Now that you mention it, I do find it strange that the gems by themselves cost all most twice as much as any other item in the game when they do so little, compared to the Crimson Gem or the Cosmic Cube. I wouldn't be surprised if they did say there was a mistake when they printed the cards, not in a "I can't believe they're that stupid and made a mistake" way more of a "That makes sense when I stop and think about it" way.

I agree with big squid nuts...and that's just not something I'm very comfortable saying.
May all your hits be crits!
On the whole, human beings want to be good — but not too good, and not quite all the time. - George Orwell
Sif was a hundred times worse than the Gauntlet. Those who think other wise need to play a game with original Structural Integrity Field rules and under built win rules that were legal at the time. At least now you can play aggressive and KO the gauntlet wearer. Back then you just sat there for 45-50 minutes and did nothing waiting for the guy that bought it to win on points because he was way under built. The Gauntlet is NOT an auto win, it maybe slightly under-costed, but its beatable SIF was not.
Its only under costed based on token manipulation, like pairing it on a piece and adding Edward Nigma so it can be spun every turn. Once he leaves modern age games, I think the Gauntlet will be balanced without being an auto win.
