Guys guys...
The best way to merge them is with the current set wasp and giant man from mutations. Well if you play golden age at least (my venue does)
So the only real way to do a modern age merg with ant-man and wasp is if u have the new awesome con exclusive giant man not the old giant man form monsters and mutations and wasp
I love this piece. My favorite chase from the set. I used them last night in an 800pt, nobody under 100 point game. They tied up BL Superman (10th), Non, and WL Flash (outwitted HSS thanks to Dr. Doom), and dealt around 6 clicks to Non and Superman without making an attack roll. "That piece is really making me mad," said my opponent (good friend). "Excellent, that's their purpose!"
Incredibly fun piece to play. Got extremely lucky last nite and rolled Super Senses all 3 times they were hit, and another just missed completely. Twice the damage from that trait KO'ed characters.
They are very pushable because of their very consistent stats and powers. Charge in with Exploit, and push to Plasticity to lock the opponent down. A good Avengers piece to pair them with is Ares, who can up their attack, while dropping the opponents, making them very tough to deal with.
Didn't get to use split, but they seem to have some good options to use with the Morphing Hank Pym pieces as well as a fantastic Wasp. Not the most broken piece thank goodness, but a lot of fun to play.
This was my number one chase want from the set and I pulled it from the very first booster I opened. I can't wait to play it. The fact that they can be carried around by anyone without a -2 penalty = win. Unavoidable damage if you miss them with an attack = bigger win. I will be playing them with some perplexers to keep that defense at a 19, and some prob in case someone gets lucky. Hmm, them and Scarlet Witch seem like a solid start to a team ...
I find it funny that Hank Pym (75), ant-man (43), and Wasp (50) = 168, but you can't split into three characters.
Why not? Both the Split and Merge mechanics mention character(s) (implying you could split Doom and Kang, for ex, into the SI #40 Doom or the GG Chase if you really wanted to), but list no limit to the number of characters you can split into. This is probably done to represent the trio split of Avengers Prime without needing special rulings, however, it would in theory work just as well for this piece, especially as Hank Pym, Ant-Man, and the Wasp (in your example) each represent one qualifying aspect of the character. The fact that they are also exactly the requisite number of points for both Splitting and Merging is probably no coincidence.
