I think the thing is that figures are meaningless to me. The fact that I got the figures from the tournament is not the reason I choose to spend extra money to play...
You technically didn't spend extra money.
The tournament entry fee also gets you the boosters. And if they were meaningless, you wouldn't have rushed to put them up for sale. So clearly they meant something to you.
Wanted: Star Wars - Knights Of The Old Republic #27 Jar Jar Binks (VR)- [PM Me!]
It's a game still in beta, thus crap happens. It's still a blast to play, just gotta play by the rules including refunds.
Is this game ever going to be out of beta? It's kind of a sorry excuse. "We'll take your money but if anything goes wrong, remember this is in beta". It can't be both ways. If it's not fleshed out and functional enough to be out of beta then they shouldn't be taking people's money. And it's hard to play by the rules when they aren't posted or made known.

Maybe he put them up for sale to try to get more ClixBux to get back into a tournament (I've done that). But either way he did spend extra money (10CB) which is another thing I don't like about their refund policy. If you choose to keep the figures you should get 10CB back since the non-tournament value of 10 figures is 190CB.
Ok here let me put it like this... You go into Starbucks and order a coffee and pay for it; the barista behind the counter hands you the drink and it spills half way on the counter some what on you or splashes on your shirt.... You throw away the cup and then wait for 10 minutes while he helps out the rest of the line ignoring your problem but it's ok cause he will get to you. He then proceeds to tell you he can't give you a refund or another drink because you threw the cup away; you tell him it's still in the trash and he can go get it but he refuses and gives you the number to his manager and says you'll have to get in touch with him to sort out the problem and he is just following procedure. You leave a message with the manager and he doesn't get back to you....
And the majority of you say, man that sucks but what do you expect you threw away the cup...
Like really; the auction hasn't ended for the figures and I still haven't received any assistance... It doesn't say anywhere that I can't get rid of the figures in the event of a game malfunction and a 10 hour delayed response.
I wish I had a t-shirt with Jace Beleren and Wade Wilson standing back to back with Gir sitting on the floor beneath them.
You buy a case of AVM HS at your comic shop. You take them home and open them all up. You look at the figures, maybe playtest one of two, and you decide to put them all up on eBay. A few hours later you take the empty boxes back to your venue and tell them you didn't get any chases so you want a full refund... And if the pieces don't sell on eBay you'll bring them in later...
So you think you're going to get your money back from the store?

No, it's more like you pay for a sealed tourney at the venue, power goes out halfway through so the venue closes. Then you put the figures up for sale and contact the venue to get a refund. They want the figs you've got for sale back, but they'll let you play in the next sealed for free. Then conflict ensues.

Except they haven't said I can play in the next one for free

I am a new player but I thought I would share my experience playing Magic the gathering online, which is another collectible game which transitioned into online play where you buy products with real money.
In MTGO, whenever there are bugs that mess up sealed/draft tournaments, they let you keep the products (drafted cards or cards opened) and return the entry fee.
Although Im not saying this should be necessarily implemented in HC, I do believe that in order to grow the online community and to encourage ppl to play online even through some of the bugs, the company should go out of their way to make the costumers feel satisfied after wasting valuable time and money on a tournament. It especially sucks to hear about ppl who won their first game (thus guaranteed a prize) and then a bug occurs preventing them from playing for the LE, thus forcing them to choose between a full refund or keeping the opened figures and 2nd prize. I would personally feel kind of cheated if that were to happen to me.

This is good stuff, you should post it on their official forums.
Yes, you did. And you had a bad experience. So did everyone who spent ten bucks to see Battleship this weekend. The difference is that HCO is working with you, or at least trying to, to correct that negative experience. Sometimes a customer service request doesn't get fixed right away. I'm sure if you're patient and willing, you can reach an understanding.
And that's a better deal than anyone who saw Battleship will get.
And the plight of those who saw Battleship actually manages to catch my sympathy...until they ask for a refund for the popcorn they ate while watching it.

Looks like WotC has got the customer service angle down! Maybe Wizkids could 'borrow' this model from them?
I really am not getting the 'sucks to be you' responses when the return policy isn't posted anywhere and the game is still in Beta.
It's like going to McDonalds, ordering some chicken nuggets and finding a dead mouse in them. You go to look for the employees to return the nuggets, but they've all gone on break. You don't want to hold a dead mouse, so you place it in their trashcan. When someone finally returns, you say 'hey, I don't want to make a big deal, but there was a mouse in my nuggets. I put it in the trashcan right over there. Can I get my money back?". The employee says "Well, I'd like to, but our policy is we don't refund nuggets, and I can't check that trashcan. It's policy." You look around for their nugget return policy, or any return policy, but it's no where to be found. The employee then says "You can contact the corporate office and see if they'll issue a refund" but by that time, you are so mad, you jump on Facebook and post how there was a dead mouse in the nuggets you just bought from McDonalds.
Now there's 20 people who read your post who will never buy nuggets from McDonalds again.
I would never recommend anyone play the game, as I said before, based on the horrible experiences that have been posted. If someone opens a booster with a code and says 'hey, what's this?' I'd more likely recommend them to just toss it then to go through the headaches in simply getting a refund for constant bug issues.
At this rate, I can't ever see this game being the success that the company hopes it to be.
