Well I can understand that, because it's not a big deal to prevent using a power. In the case of Thanos, if you're playing multiple dials and KO Issue 4, he needs to somehow fit to create Issue 5. I doubt that there would be a ruling that just lets you KO a 1000 point dial that easily.
I'm sure there will be some sort of errata or clarification that allows Thanos to be placed in the nearest available space.
If not, well then we just found a way to easily KO Thanos.
There are a couple differences between Apoc and Thanos. One is a power that can be not used by the player, the other is non-optional in any way.
I would maintain that my solution is the best one (while admitting obvious bias), as it's logical and follows the given rules. I don't see a need for errata if this is the eventual chosen ruling, although a PG clarification or Final Word in addition to an Orange timestamp never hurts things.

I can definitely see your side of the argument as well. Maybe he does stay on his base.
I think errata was the wrong word to use. I definitely think that we need some clarification.
Guess we'll have to wait a while until the deputies are allowed to make rulings. I wonder if the shipping date of July 25th counts as a release date?

So my venue didn't get him yet, but more have been popping up on ebay. I'm assuming it means he has been 'released' as these people are getting him from official sources and the Infinity Gauntlet OP kits usually ship the week before the month of the event.

I actually already have mine in hand (the Thanos you perverts).
Does that count that it's already been released? It'd be nice to get some answers already.
Pretty please?

From what I can see I would say that if you go from Issue #5 to Issue #4 you would basically change out from the 3x6 dial to the 2x2 dial , when you go to Issue #3 or 2 or 1 you place him back on the 3x6 dial and then onto the map . the problem I see is if you surround the 2x2 dial , how can he place the 3x6 dial if there is existing figures on those squares.

First, you have the order wrong. The order is always 1, 2, 3, 4, then 5. You just skip the numbers you have not chosen to play.
Secondly, yes, you have identified my question.

Any game effect resulting in two or more characters occupying the same square, or characters, terrain markers, or objects occupying a square of blocking terrain, is prohibited (except for Debris markers, see Terrain p.12). If part of a game effect would cause this to happen, that part of the game effect is ignored. If moving or placing a character, terrain marker, or object would cause this, then the character, terrain markers, or object must instead move to or be placed in a different square.
Then this part of Golden Rule #2 would kick in.

So then for this effect, and Apocalypse's power, you basically choose where to place them?
That makes sense.
I guess my first question is still there. Does Thanos have to come off the shrine when he reaches issue #4?

No, Thanos being on the shrine is totally optional for the player.
In fact I think a lot of players are going to use that space where Thanos is supposed to go and put the Infinity Gauntlet there instead. So even if Thanos is being played without the shrine the shrine can still serve as a back drop for the Infinity Gauntlet which is gonna look sick as hell

He would have to come off the base...
For his powers and range he would get more out of them and be able to target more people. It's all part of his cost.

He has to be on the shrine for every issue except #4. I don't really think what you are suggesting will be that prevalent.
