Montgomery Kelly could not get to the Metropolis HDC compound because too many Intergang agents barred his way. He had no choice but to try to flee Metropolis or risk death or capture.

Unfortunately, he found himself cut off from escape and had no choice but to surrender to Intergang. He was disarmed and led away to be interrogated and tortured.

Susan Storm woke up in the Baxter building and shuddered at her situation. She had been hoping that the Fantastic Four would not be touched by this crisis.

When she stepped out, Janet Van Dyne was already up and had prepped a breakfast for the two of them.

They hugged each other and Jan began to brief her about where they were and the heroes and villains from the other universes as they ate.

Leaderless, the Kobra fanatics were disoriented and chose to stay underground until they could get their bearings. They had factions everywhere except Capital City, Smallville and Happy Harbor.

The four Teen Titans reported their failed confrontation with Absorbing Man. There was not much that could be done. Batman wondered how the Absorbing Man had escaped the destroyed moon. He did not know that Creel was in his hometown, but he suspected it as a possibility and it grated on him.

He rushed to prepare Cameron Chase to take over coordination duties so that he could have a freer hand.

Day 11: An alternate Earth, mid morning, near a duplicate Metropolis.

Shvaugn Erin; science police liaison to the Legion of Superheroes, had joined in the investigation of the missing founders of the Legion. They little to go on. There wasn't any precedent for this in the 31st century so they didn't suspect what was happening.

Shvaugn was worried about her friends. She was razzed by her fellow science police as "Liaison Lass" but she'd grown attached to the Legionnaires and was worried about them.

They'd found witnesses to the disappearances of Cosmic Boy and Lightning Lad and were sure of the method of the disappearances but little else. Suspects ranged from Universo or Mordru to a Khund/Dominator alliance. Anything was on the table right now.

Shvaugn was en route to file a report when a loud noise distracted her and she walked directly into a rift in reality.

Shvaugn looked back and found herself staring at the Metropolis skyline of a 1000 years before her time. Using expletives that were timeless, she wondered "What the ****?"

"Who are you?"

Shvaugn was used to a lot of unusual looking alien races in her time but she'd never seen anything like the image she was confronted with when she responded to that.

A man (?) about six feet tall in a business suit was looking at her askance while smoking something she'd only heard about in history books. A cigarette maybe? But the most striking thing about him was his head. He had transparent skin and organs, including the musculature which enabled you to see his skull and neckbones.

He laughed bitterly at her dumbfounded stare.

"That's right. Get a good look. Drink it in. You don't see someone like me everyday. I'd shake your hand to introduce myself but you'd regret the outcome of that. They call me Mister Bones. I'm sure you can see why."

Shvaugn swallowed but she'd seen more remarkable sights.

"Where are we?"

"We're outside of Metropolis as far as I can tell. Why we are, I couldn't tell you."

"My name is Shvaugn Erin, I'm the Science Police liaison for the Legion of Superheroes." She instinctively tried to shake his hand and then recoiled, remembering his admonishment that she'd regret it.

Backing away to avoid physical contact, he said "Science Police? Legion of Superheroes? What the hell are you talking about?"

Shvaugn's mind raced. "I'm sorry, what year is this?" Realising the archaic nature of Mr. Bones suit, Shvaugn felt compelled to ask this.

"2013, what kind of question is that?" Bones knew full well why she asked that, he'd deduced she was from the future when she mentioned the LSH. Her futuristic uniform was also a giveaway but he was a jerk by nature and couldn't resist messing with her.

"I --- I'm not from this time. I'm from the future." Taking a chance, she asked "Have you seen any unfamiliar superheroes with powers like lightning blasts, magnetism or telepathy?"

Feeling disdainful, Bones toyed with her, "Friends of yours?"

"Yes, yes actually. Good friends, I'm worried about them."

Bones often had trouble recognizing when he was being a jerk but suspected he'd better stop messing with her and tell her what she needed to know. "I don't know anything about them. I was brought here against my will as well. I'm from the 21st century by the way. I suspect this is not what it seems for either of us. I'm the director of the D.E.O. The Department of Extranormal Operations.

Shvaugn recognized that as a defunct organization from the distant past.

She began to realize she actually was in the past, apparently.

Science Police outposts appeared in all the cities, Smallville and Happy Harbor. In the future, the Science Police were law enforcement. Even Earth 2 had a Legion.

The Metropolis Science Police set out to do their patrols and were immediately struck by the archaic nature of Metropolis in contrast to their headquarters.

What was up? This was confusing. Because Intergang was preoccupied with trying to subdue the HDC compound very few of their agents were on patrol.

A science police patrol headed out using flight rings based on Brainiac 5's technology.

The first thing they encountered were several Intergang agents escorting a stripped and defenseless Montgomery Kelly to be interrogated.

The Science Police took photos and ran them against their database, they immediately recognized Intergang as a terrorist organization and challenged the Intergang patrol.

The Intergang members responded with violence and were soon subdued.

The Science Police freed Montgomery Kelly and restored his gear to him. He explained what happened and after a quick reconnaissance rushed Kelly to their headquarters where he explained what was going on. The Science Police wasted no time enacting one of B5's force fields around the compound to prevent hostile attacks while the SPs decided what to do.

Science police headquarters appeared in all the other cities and in Smallville and Happy Harbor. It appeared that the Science Police existed in Earth 2 also.

Shvaugn eyed Metropolis. "Should we go in?"

Mr. Bones eyed Metropolis as well.

"I guess we better."

When they tried to enter they were both arrested by Intergang agents who stripped Shvaugn of her weapons. One Intergang agent made the mistake of grabbing Mr. Bones by the neck and died horribly from cyanide poisoning practically immediately.

"I want to see someone in charge" Bones said and was granted an immediate audience with Bane.

Shvaugn was disarmed and led away.

The appearance of the Science Police caught everyone napping.

Hawkman confronted the Midway City faction, The Flash confronted Central City. Even Atlantis had Science Police because Atlantis had been accepted fully into the world community by the 31st centry.

Meanwhile the brace of heroes waiting for a Manhunter invasion on Oa were severely disappointed. Only a fraction of Manhunter robots investigated the possibility of Oa existing and they were quickly destroyed by John Stewart, Mar-Vell and the rest.

The Manhunters had declared the Brood the biggest threat to the universe and were busy with a campaign of eradication against them.

It didn't take long for the Science Police factions to figure out that they'd somehow been transported into the past. The factions in all the cities except Metropolis quickly began coordinating with the local law enforcement, National Guard, Shield and Checkmate Agents to assist in the defense of the cities. The HDC troops and DEO agents also began the same process.

Metropolis was a completely different story however.

Bane was in a bad mood. Titania and Harley Quinn had apparently gone awol sometime in the night. This only left him the Crimson Dynamo, the Scorpion and the Controller for super powered muscle. Now that Luthor had Gorilla Grodd, the Cheetah and Deathbird working for him, he wasn't sure if that was enough in their standoff over who controlled Metropolis.

Now Luthor was likely to add the Queen Bee to his arsenal. Bane didn't like that development at all. Mr. Bones was willing to take charge of these DEO agents and keep them off his back but what was he going to do about these HDC troops and Science Police that have suddenly appeared?

He decided to interrogate the Science Police member he had in custody to find out. He should have had a HDC trooper in custody as well if his Intergang agents hadn't bumbled that. He would have to make do as best he could.

Supergirl witnessed the female Science Police get taken into custody with her vision powers. She was not happy about that. She was worried about what they would do to her. If she thought she was being tortured, Kara would ignore Batman's orders and rescue her.

Meanwhile, she found herself joined by the three members of the Legion of Superheroes. They became concerned when they learned the Science Police had come to this reality and knew that special problems would develop at Metropolis.

Saturn Girl opened a mental link to the Science Police captive and immediately learned that she was Shvaugn Erin. She also opened a telepathic link to the other Science Police in Metropolis and learned that the SP chief Kimball Zendak was there as well as Gigi Cusimano.

For now, everyone seemed to be all right. It was a standoff though that may change because of the supervillains under the command of Bane and Luthor.

Gorilla Grodd sensed the telepathy and began attempting to block Saturn Girl causing a distraction as the two engaged in a test of wills and psychic power.

Smallville, Opal City and the Big Apple all found their population had become relatively complete today, so once again the newly arrived citizens needed reassurance as their counterparts became relative ghost towns like Gotham City Central City and Metropolis had become.
