That was essentially my point. There's circumstances where I'd play just about any character/figure.

There is no absolute "never play never own" for me, not will there ever be.

I know I am the extreme minority, but I refuse to play a Batman. I hate the character, and I only own the Promo "first Heroclix ever" Batman only because it was the first Hero-clix. I would also like to eventually own Omega Batman so I can play it as a Spawn or Eddie Brock Venom piece.

The entire Gauntlet series was great for me because I did not care at all if I won any of those LEs. Strangely, I ended up winning a Thanos/Throne. I traded it off for the Batcave that I didn't win in the series where I cared about getting EVERY LE and did not win most. Damn my luck.

The furthest I go in the Marvel space direction is Guardians of the Galaxy because of Bug and my affinity for Micronauts. (Boy! I sure am glad we have a Keyword for them!! (Sarcasm))

I do dig some space guys if they are generics or a team like Skrulls, Kree, or Bucket Heads.



And any of the Image stuff. No interest there. I have to give in on the Image stuff that they wound into the DCU, like the guys they paired up with Terra.

Conk, you are not in the minority from my point of view. I find that I run into all manner of humans jumping on the Batman Hater Bandwagon (Or should I say "tour bus; bus for tourists" (48 HUMOR pts)).

Or maybe it's the fact that I'm a fan and just about everyone feels the need to TELL me about their Batman hate.

I agree. Marvel space guys are soooooo stupid. The only ones I like are the animals like Cosmo & Rocket Racoon.

Okay, I just want to go on the record as saying that I did not say Marvel space guys are stupid. They just aren't for me.

It's funny that I really like all the Kirby New Gods stuff and I'm really excited about finally getting some of them in SLoSH, but I shun all the Marvel Kirby stuff that are basically the same characters.

Most X-Men (never did get into the X-verse) - the few I do own are oddly for use on non-X-Men related teams.
Most Nu52 stuff. I just dislike the concept, and hate most of the redesigns, although I'll take characters like Batman, the Lanterns, Flash (as they're basically indistinguishable from their previous incarnations), and most of the JL Dark stuff. Although I completely despise what they've done with Phantom Stranger and the Question.

EDIT - Oh yeah... and Tab Apps. I just... hate them. The combination of tubby bobbleheaded sculpts and fat bases (along with my dislike of most things "i-" related) somehow repulses me.

Characters trump dials for me. A beloved character with a mediocre dial will get played, whereas a character I'm completely disinterested in with an incredibly effective/near-broken dial won't even get into the collection.
