I'm sorry to rain on anyone's parade, but really, dude used three entities. So his team was valued at over $300. I find the meta game disgusting and the FACT that it is becoming based off of how much money you want to spend is a real bummer. Come on, Iron Pharaoh with belt and entity, Despotellis with an entity, that hardly sounds like skill to me. That sounds like, "I just bought this tournament, #####'s". I guess I will have to reconsider my stance on this game again because of this 25 point entity BS. I used to enjoy trying to build a team that could take out a feated KC Flash(the thing that caused me to walk away form this game last time), but I would love to see someone try to put together a team to take out the one that won this tournament. I can't blame, "the Bob" for putting it together, Wizkids has allowed him to do so and it does take some skill to put it together. However, I feel the previous brokenness(Belt, Guantlet, BoS) was provided by Wizkids to everyone as participation prizes(Free) and that this new form of brokenness(25 point Entities) is a chase in the most rare set to date causing the price spike that we all see on Ebay. I'm sure the dust will settle after WoL, but for this tournament season I feel Wizkids has definitely set the bar at around $300 to participate. Where in previous years you could make yourself a solid meta team for around $50 and compete.
Congrats, "The Bob" on setting the standard for cheese!!! Who I would really like to congratulate is second place for bringing the team he did and playing good enough to finish second. You are a real Heroclix player and you didn't buy your way to second, you played your way there.

Yet again someone congratulates someone who used the very thing they spent far too long complaining about. Don't blame players for using something, it doesn't matter how much your team cost you still need to win with it.

I will be there first to say, please do quit. It will do us all a favor to not have to listen your whining. Who cares how much he spent on his team? He gets a stat boost and extra power per turn, it's not that earth shattering. I have said it once and will continue to say it "good players will find a way around it".
As for the second place team, he was rocking another kind of cheese. He ALSO had an entity, so don't glorify his "skill" versus the winners based on how many "entitys" he was using. If you don't like the meta game, then don't get butthurt over the teams you see here. These people are playing for prizes and bragging rights. There will be entitys at dragon con too, so dont let us hear you complaining then. These are competitive tournaments, you cant get mad at a guy for bringing a tank to a gun fight.
Perennial ROC Top 8 finisher. Cast member of Clixed Off and The Quarry. Traveling enthusiasts. Let me know if you want to take shots between rounds!
For the record I didn't spend a dime on my team. It did take a whole lot of wheelin and dealin for them however lol.
it's funny just last year people were saying how happy they were that I was winning with print and play figs now it's the exact opposite lol( even funnier is that I still feel that team is better than when I won his roc with)
Is it confirmed Blind Al was possessed with an entity? The entry for that team doesn't make it as clear on the others who was assigned it.
In any case, there's plenty of ammo here for people to say the entities should be on the watch list, if only to review whether they should work with resources. If you made the top 16, you had a hard time getting to top 8 if you didn't have an entity. And clearly there's some advantage for running three entities, as two of those teams made the top 4.
I had the white lantern on shrinking violet. As for 3 and 2 entity teams, didn't seem to give that big of an advantage honestly, the hardest to beat team I played all day didn't even have an entity. Was M10Iron Man D10Cat Woman Sister Sercy & Grunge (I think that's the right name the SR from titan that messes up relics) and a bat belt. I had no margin for error, had my opponent not made errors for me to capitalize on I would have lost that game for sure, and that was round 1 of the swiss.
It's really hard to look at results on paper and know what went on, the adara on despotolis did a good job of giving me an extra 25 points, and provided 1 maybe two probs before that happened. And that was against every team I saw with an adara/despo combo, not just Bob's. It's a lot more to do with the player you sit across from, their dice luck vs yours, and who's strategy best accounted for the other persons. If I'd had an orphidan to play I'd of probably given him madam webs spot, but if I had tried to fit in three it would have messed up my general tactic. I was in the main event at dragon con last year when team bases were at their peak, those games were boring meta, it was what team base are you running and who gets initiative roll game over. Now I saw 28 different teams out of 29 players (2 friends ran the same team..it was good) I saw IP giving people the bird and doing it like 7 different ways.I didn't play against the same tactic twice all day through 8 rounds. And I didn't see anyone's game ending before it began. Just ask anyone who was there Bob didn't just put 3 entities on a team and obliterate people all day, he had a competitive team that through good play managed to beat out other EQUALLY competitive teams.
Here's another way of looking at it, the top three consisted of the guy who won the last ROC SQ in Kentucky, a guy who's made it to the main event @ Dragon Con 2(soon to be 3) years running, and a known competitive player who attends gen & dragon con oh and tends to do well at both of those top tier events. Does anyone really think changing the the way a person is allowed to make a team will change that? They can Nerf/watch list/ban anything and top players will just go to the next thing that they can find which is competitive. It's not going to make Joe shmoe average player have ANY better chances at a competitive event that top players from around the country are willing to drive to.
Point being if the top meta team cost 500 or 5 dollars to assemble, good players win tournaments, not teams.
